  27.                                  RUNNING GENKIT
  28.  
  29. GENKIT is menu-operated and each menu is generally self-explanatory. Access the 
  30. Help option if you have doubts. Further explanations are given in windows in 
  31. many of the routines.

  33. TO BEGIN: Type GENKIT15 at the prompt (suggestion: rename the program to GENKIT 
  34. or, simply, GK)
  35.  
  36. You will then be placed in the MAIN MENU, from which you can select one of the 
  37. following six menus, the HELP screen (which is similiar to this description of 
  38. the program) or QUIT. Cursor movement is controlled by the arrow keys. 
  39.  
  40. DATE MENU 
  41.   1 Returns day of the week for a given date
  42.   2 Returns date of birth from age on a given date
  43.   3 Describes calendar changes from `Old Style' to `New Style'
  44.  
  45. SOUNDEX MENU 
  46.   1 Returns soundex code for surname
  47.   2 Describes soundex coding system

  50.   1 Lists starting and ending ahnentafel numbers for 14 generations

  104. Version 1.5  - After repeated unsuccessful attempts to compile a "clean" 
  105.                version with the "Address Section" included, it was finally 
  106.                eliminated from the program. Apparently this addition was the 
  107.                "straw that broke the camel's back" as portions of some screens 
  108.                became contaminated with "garbage" and this contamination spread 
  109.                to other screens as a session with GENKIT progressed. Another 
  110.                reason for eliminating this section is that addresses often 
  111.                change, resulting in continuous updating. This information is 
  112.                likely more readily available (and more up-to-date) from other 
  113.                sources on many BBSs; 26 Mar 1989.
