SpudFont 1.0 by Monte Ferguson
WHAT IS IT?
SpudFont is Yet Another Font Viewer for Windows. It'll let you take a
look at your fonts with a variety of options. It'll also print a
"reference sheet" of the complete character set.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Windows 3.1 or better. It'll probably work under 3.0, but no promises.
2) VBRUN100.DLL. This is the VisualBasic runtime library, you may already
have it. If not, download it - you'll find lots of Windows shareware
utilities need it.
HOW TO USE IT:
If you can't figure this out you probably don't *deserve* to use it. All
the controls are labeled, press buttons and stuff happens, just like every
other WinDoze app in the world.
HINTS:
1) SpudFont only shows Printer fonts.
2) Not all fonts want to print with all options at all sizes... if
SpudFont can't cajole the font into printing with your selection options
it'll give you a feeble excuse and apologize.
3) Use the "Characters" button to see what the Reference Sheet looks like
*before* you use the Print Characters button. If your size isn't goosed
correctly you'll get wierd results with characters all over the place.
4) The dreaded FSR Beast! FSR: (For Some Reason) in some fonts you can
get some characters to print at a particular point size but not all of
them. Beats me why, I'm not a font guru. This may well be perfectly right
and correct and wonderful, I dunno. FYI.
WHY I WROTE IT:
There are lots of font viewers/printers out there, and this isn't really
better than them - but it does *exactly* what I want it to do *exactly*
how I want it done. If it meets your needs as well, great. If you like
something else better, use that instead. Check'em out... there are some
nice ones out there!
COPYING/USE NONSENSE:
This program is copyright (C) 1992 by Monte Ferguson. Humans from the
planet Earth are allowed to use it any way they like with my blessing.
Humans are also allowed to give it away any way they like. Site licensing
is available for other planets - contact the author at the address below.
If you think this program is absolutely the greatest thing since sliced
bread and the fact that I've made *nothing* from my work keeps you awake
at night you could send me some fonts at the address below. Or you could
just tell me how much you love it.
If you'd like to report a bug or make a suggestion for improvements, feel
free to send them to the author, along with a twenty dollar bill. The
complaints will be ignored, and the currency spent on some small shiny
worthless baubles. That's the kind of guy I am.
Enjoy yourself!
