  1. This is a demonstration version of "John Benson's Winning Rotisserie (r)
  2. Baseball Draft Software", the computer program that lets you run your 
  3. whole draft/auction with no paper, no books, and no worksheets.

  5. INSTALATION INSTRUCTIONS
  6. -------------------------

  8. The demonstration package comes with the following files:
  9.    
  10.   * BB_DRAFT.ZIP - PKZIP archive of demonstration
  11.   * READ.ME      - this file
  12.   * DRAFT.EXE    - the auction program
  13.   * HITTERS.DAT  - the hitter database
  14.   * PITCHERS.DAT - the pitcher database
  15.  
  16. To install the the program:
  17.    
  18.   * If you are using a hard disk: create a directory and copy the files 
  19.     to the directory. 
  20.  
  21.   * If you are using a floppy drive: copy the files to a seperate disk
  22.  
  23. To run the program type:

  25.    DRAFT

  27. PROGRAM FEATURES
  28. -----------------

  30. The program is fast, easy to use, and features a single keystroke
  31. interface that enables you to nominate and buy players without
  32. typing any names!  "John Benson's Winning Rotisserie (r) Draft Software"
  33. puts the fun back into a fantasy baseball auction.
  34.  
  35. When each player comes up for bid, see instantly:
  36.  
  37.   * The Player's 1992 Forecast Stats and Benson Values
  38.     (note the Demonstration version uses 1988 actual stats)
  39.  
  40.   * The Player's player eligibility based on his 1992 games played.
  41.  
  42.   * Pro-forma league standings "at that moment".
  43.  
  44.   * Player's impact on standings for every team (i.e. will Rickey
  45.     Henderson help your team more than Dennis Eckersley?).
  46.  
  47.   * All other players remaining.
  48.  
  49.   * All Rosters, vacancies, and money left.
  50.  
  51. In addition, "John Benson's Winning Rotisserie Draft Software" handles
  52. all aspects of fantasy team management.  The program performs all of
  53. the mundane chores of assigning players to roster, moving players from
  54. one position to another, and assigning new position eligibilties.
  55. The program automatically calculates inflation rates and the average
  56. and maximum amounts a team can spend on a player.
  57.  
  58. "John Benson's Winning Rotisserie Draft Software" supports AL, NL
  59. and mixed rotisserie leagues.  It can handle leagues with upto 17
  60. teams.
  61.  
  62. The demonstration version has the following limitations:
  63.  
  64.    * league size fixed at 12 teams; team names also fixed.
  65.  
  66.    * uses 1988 actual stats
  67.  
  68.    * Auction cannot be saved.  Rosters go away when you exit the program.

  70.    * allows only 150 players to be drafted
  71.  
  72. PROGRAM COMMANDS
  73. ----------------
  74.  
  75. All commands in "John Benson's Winning Rotisserie (r) Draft Software" are 
  76. initiated by function keys.  The following function keys are defined:
  77.  
  78.   <F1> - displays help screen.
  79.  
  80.   <F2> - shows detailed standings for the fantasy league.
  81.  
  82.   <F3> - shows player needs and money left for each fantasy team in league.
  83.  
  84.   <F4> - shows the player roster for a fantasy team.
  85.  
  86.   <F5> - shows available players sorted by position and Benson values.
  87.          The <PgDn> and <PgUp> keys can be used to scroll the list.
  88.          Players can be nominated (put up for bid) by using the
  89.          <up arrow> and <down arrow> keys to highlight a player and
  90.          pressing return.  This permits players to be nominated without
  91.          typing in there name.

  93.   <F6> - shows the players with the most standings impact on a fantasy team.
  94.          The <PgDn> and <PgUp> keys can be used to scroll the list.
  95.          Players can be nominated (put up for bid) by using the
  96.          <up arrow> and <down arrow> keys to highlight a player and
  97.          pressing return.  This permits players to be nominated without
  98.          typing in there name.

  100.   <F7> - puts a player up for bid.
  101.  
  102.   <F8> - assigns a player to a fantasy team.
  103.  
  104.   <F9> - removes a player from a fantasy team.
  105.  
  106.   <F10> - exits the program.

  108. When the program wishes you to make a choice (e.g. what position
  109. to assign a player) it will display a list of valid options.  You
  110. can switch between options by using the the <right arrow> and 
  111. <left arrow> keys.  The <return> key will select the highlighted
  112. option.

  117. The program works on all IBM PC Compatiables, supports both color and
  118. monochrome monitors, and requires only a single 360K floppy disk drive.

  121. also available for $29 and permits you to change the forecasts and
  122. dollar values.  Please specify disk type when ordering.
