  65.   DAYO, what is it?
  66.  
  67.      DAYO is a multiuser, personal computer based, business application
  68.   consisting of many programs (called modules). The many facets of a
  69.   business are broken down into these modules, ie: Inventory Control,
  70.   Point of Sale (POS), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General
  71.   Ledger, Smart Reports, and many more. A company may elect to use all
  72.   or just some of the DAYO modules. The most popular modules are Inventory,
  73.   POS, Accounts Receivable and Smart Reports. DAYO was created to run
  74.   on PC networks like Novell (tm) and LANtastic (tm), but are often
  75.   used on 'standalone' personal computers.

  78.   Is DAYO an integrated system?

  80.      The entire DAYO application is totally integrated, which means there
  81.   is NO additional effort applied to re-entering data once entered into
  82.   any one module, ie: customer, vendor and item information.

  85.   Who was it written for?

  87.      DAYO was written with the user in mind. Compare it to others and you
  88.   will see the difference in the screen design, and the greater available
  89.   of data. Users include retailers, distributors, suppliers, manufacturers,
  90.   consultants and attorneys. Any business or organization that sells
  91.   a product or service can use DAYO.

  94.   Is DAYO easy to use?

  96.      Despite the many configuration options, the applications are easy
  97.   to operate, and by default are ready to go at time of installation!
  98.   But should you desire to change DAYO to operate differently, you can.
  99.   There are hundreds of configurable settings easily modified from within
  100.   the modules.

  103.   Who wrote DAYO?
  104.  
  105.      DAYO was written by Thomas (Tom) Johnson, a graduate of the University
  106.   of South Carolina at Aiken (B.S., 1985). Tom's experience includes
  107.   programming for the college, the army (he is a former Army Officer),
  108.   manufacturing companies, major computer sales and service companies,
  109.   and years of special programming & consulting. Whenever necessary,
  110.   outside consultants were used to help develop some of the modules,
  111.   ie: General Ledger.

  116.   What was DAYO written in?

  118.      DAYO is entirely written in Clipper (tm), a fourth generation language.
  119.   It consists of 27+ modules/programs, and over 250,000 lines of code.

  124.      There is plenty of DAYO documentation (user manuals). Every DAYO module
  125.   has its own document file and printed manual. There are over 3500
  126.   pages of documentation; all found on disks accompanying the modules.
  127.   The documentation is always accessible from within the modules by
  128.   pressing the F1 key. The documentation is also pre-formatted and 'paginated';
  129.   ready to be printed on your printer. Note, set your printer to print
  130.   extended ASCII characters, to print at 6 lines per inch, and to print
  131.   at 10 or 12 pitch. Printed manuals are supplied with registration.

  154.   So how does it work?
  155.  
  156.      DAYO is essentially divided into two key parts, Accounts Receivable
  157.   (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP). Key DAYO AR modules include POS, Quotes
  158.   and AR. Inventory and AP are the two major components of AP. AR is
  159.   the process of creating invoices, billing, and the maintenance of
  160.   the receivables (unpaid invoices). AP is your inventory, purchasing,
  161.   and the maintenance of your payables (what you owe your vendors or
  162.   creditors).

  164.      Initially, you would enter/type in your inventory items, vendors,
  165.   and customers. Note, you can do this 'on the fly' too...
  166.  
  167.      The inventory module is used to maintain your inventory and vendors.
  168.   Use it also to create purchase orders and later to receive purchase
  169.   orders into inventory. Your inventory can consist of products or services,
  170.   or a mixture of both.

  175.      With quantity in inventory, you can create invoices or work orders
  176.   with the Point of Sale (POS) module. Note, you can set the POS configuration
  177.   to ignore inventory quantities (allow you to invoice with no regard
  178.   to what is onhand in inventory).

  180.      Use Quotes to create a listing of inventory items/products at user
  181.   determined prices for your customers. These quotes can later be transferred
  182.   into POS without any re-entry of data.

  184.      At a schedule determined by the user, invoices are posted into AR,
  185.   and receipts of purchase orders are posted into AP. This posting is
  186.   merely the pressing of a menu option and can be performed daily, weekly,
  187.   monthly or whenever...

  190.   How hard is it to get something changed?
  191.  
  192.      Once changes are agreed upon, they are usually done within 72 hours!
  193.   If the user has a modem, the changes/modifications can be delivered
  194.   almost immediately! TJS LAB charges a maximum of $35.00 per hour for changes,
  195.   but 'price breaks' are given if the change is to be permanently incorporated
  196.   into the system.

  231.     DAYO Inventory is a Multiuser Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Vendor
  232.  Maintenance application. Use DAYO Inventory to create and maintain an
  233.  inventory of any product. Create and print purchase orders on a standard
  234.  printer or a Hewlett Packard LaserJet (tm). Receive purchase orders into
  235.  inventory, with the option of printing receivers ('key recs'), and inventory
  236.  tags/price labels. Maintain a Vendors database complete with the vendors
  237.  purchasing history. With the exception of the initial and ongoing data entry
  238.  of new product and vendors, DAYO Inventory is totally menu driven. Since DAYO
  239.  Inventory is multiuser, it is capable of operating on most of the PC based
  240.  networks, ie Novell (tm). Other features include Reports, Labels, Lists, and
  241.  a Graph. A simple database management module is also included to provide you
  242.  with additional means to modify, view, and report your data. The ability to
  243.  upgrade your system is available with the addition of supporting DAYO
  244.  products (ie: DAYO POS, DAYO EOP, DAYO AP, and more...).

  249.       DAYO POS (Point of Sale) is a Billing and Invoicing application for any
  250.   size business. It is the DAYO module that permits you to invoice out your
  251.   products while keeping an accurate record of all your 'sales'.  Features
  252.   include:  Multiuser (ie: Novell), Registers, Quote Interface (to DAYO
  253.   Quotes), Templates, Back Orders, Data Entry Validation, Cash Drawers (Serial

  265.       DAYO Price Book is a system of creating and maintaining specialized
  266.   pricing for your customer/clients. Special printouts (Price Books/Catalogs)
  267.   may be printed to a standard printer, or to a Hewlett Packard (tm) Laserjet
  268.   or compatible. It requires the presence of DAYO Inventory and DAYO POS
  269.   (Point of Sale) programs/databases.

  271.       Customers are invoiced (with DAYO POS), using the price in the inventory
  272.   database (INV.DBF), or with one of the special Price Book methods:

  282.       DAYO Quotes creates sales order quotes based on the DAYO Inventory,
  283.   Customer, and other DAYO databases. Quotes can be printed on a standard
  284.   printer or a Hewlett Packard (tm) Laserjet compatible printer. The quote can
  285.   be printed on a pre-printed form, on the Laser printer in a special laser
  286.   format, or as a standard/default form. DAYO Quotes closely models itself
  287.   after the DAYO POS (Point of Sale) application and is totally integrated
  288.   with that application. Templates (kits or bundles), are supported.

  293.       DAYO INDEX is a program designed to manage the indexing of the DAYO
  294.   databases. DAYO applications all have multiple indexes, and because it is
  295.   recommended that they be reindexed at least once daily, DAYO Index was
  296.   created to simplify this process.

  301.       DAYO PASSWORDS provide DAYO Business Application users with a system of
  302.   database security through the use of passwords. Its use is optional, but
  303.   recommended in areas where more than one person has access to the data.

  306.   DAYO BACK ORDERS
  307.  
  308.       DAYO BACK ORDERS is the maintenance module for the processing of all
  309.   your customers/sales backorders. DAYO BO (working with DAYO POS) determines
  310.   and manages the filling (allocation) of your customers backorders. It does
  311.   this through an allocation process that determines what backordered items
  312.   are 'fillable' because of receipts into the inventory. Creates the same type
  313.   invoices as DAYO POS.

  316.   AR (ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE)

  318.       DAYO AR is the 'final chapter' to the processing and maintenance of all
  319.   your Receivables. DAYO AR includes routines to handle cash receipts,
  320.   customers, invoice types, terms, taxcodes, sales persons, and more. Many
  321.   reports are included (ie: Ageing, Customer, Sales...). There is a routine
  322.   to print Statements (ie: SMART, 90, 60, 30 days), and another one to create
  323.   and print 'non' standard invoices (not applicable to DAYO POS). HP Laser
  324.   forms are provided as an option for Statements and Invoices.

  330.   your Payables. DAYO AP's key mission is to process/post your purchase orders,

  332.   1099 MISC Forms, Purchase Clearing, Vendor Maintenance, Hand/Manual Checks,
  333.   Batch Checks, Recurring Checks, Unlimited Bank Accounts, Unlimited Check

  347.       DAYO Look Up is a routine for DAYO users to view data from any DAYO
  348.   database or dBase (tm) compatible database (.DBF). No editing is allowed.
  349.   This provides a 'safe' tool for users that do not have the need to make
  350.   changes to the databases. Has multi-level passwords.

  354.       DAYO EOP (End of Period Pack & Inventory) contains routines that are
  355.   normally run at the end of a reporting period (ie: Month). DAYO EOP permits
  356.   you to permanently remove deleted records from the Accounts Receivable (AR)
  357.   and Accounts Payable (AP) databases, and to erase old report text files.
  358.   There is also a routine for performing a Physical Inventory. Many reports
  359.   are included (ie: AR Ageing, AP Summary, Inventory Movement).

  488.       DAYO RENTAL POS (Point of Sale) is a Billing and Invoicing application
  489.   for any business that rents items, equipment, or services, ie: Videos,
  490.   Tapes, Furniture, Tools, Appliances, etc. This program requires the regular
  491.   DAYO POS module for its reports and configuration settings. It is by default
  492.   a multiuser system, allowing almost unlimited numbers of users to have the
  493.   ability to simultaneously invoice using this one program on a PC based
  494.   LAN/Network. It can however, be run (like all DAYO products) as a
  495.   'standalone' application.

  500.       DAYO BAR CODE prints 3 of 9 bar codes onto an Epson (tm) or IBM (tm)
  501.   compatible dot matrix printer. It is integrated with the DAYO Inventory and
  502.   the DAYO Customer databases. It can be used as a standalone application if
  503.   you just have a limited number of labels to print, or have no use for an
  504.   inventory control or account receivable application. Labels are printed onto
  505.   standard labels (3.5 by 15/16 inches at 6 lines per inch). The inventory bar
  506.   code label consists of an item number, its bar code, with the option to also
  507.   print the vendor item number, description, unit of issue, weight, and
  508.   bin/location. The customer bar code label consists of a customer number, its
  509.   bar code, with the option to also print the customer's name and telephone
  510.   number.

  515.       DAYO Little POS consists of only the invoicing routines found in the
  516.   main DAYO POS application. It requires much less memory, increases
  517.   security (keeps users out of Configuration), and is recommended for
  518.   network users (where memory is always at a premium). Requires DAYO POS or
  519.   DAYO Billing & Invoicing.

  524.       DAYO Simple POS, like Little POS, consists of only the invoicing
  525.   routines found in the main DAYO POS application. It was created for
  526.   fast paced counter sales, where prices are fixed, and invoices can
  527.   be quickly processed. Does not allow for selecting customers; all sales
  528.   are credited to a CASH account. Requires DAYO POS or DAYO Billing &
  529.   Invoicing.

  534.       DAYO Returns & Refunds POS was created to make return and/or refund
  535.   invoices easier. Under normal DAYO POS settings, the option to return
