If it works, great! The only guarantee that comes with this program is that
it will take up disk space... You can quote me on that... Again, I will
take NO responsibility for what happens!!

I hate writing manuals! So here is some information so that you can tell if this
program may or may not have any viruses.
File Size: 62,017
File Date: 31-05-92
File Time: 9:31p
When this program left my computer, it was virus free. Remember to virus scan
it as a virus may have entered between the time that I uploaded it, and you
downloaded it.
OVERVIEW
~~~~~~~~
I have made Recipe master as easy to use as possible, and so I hope that
I will not have to make this manual too long.
Recipe Master is a simple to use recipe data base to store all of your good
and wonderful recipes, giving you access to them at the snap of a finger.
There are only two files that are really needed, RECIPE.EXE and
RECMASTR.REG. The REG file contains the registration code if you have
registered, or tells the program that you have not registered, do not delete
this file or the program will not work.
Recipe Master (here after known as RM) creates three small files per
recipe. A ".DES" file, a ".ING" file and a ".DIR" file, each one contains
important information about the recipe. The DES file, contains the description
of the recipe, the ING the ingredients and the DIR the directions to make the
recipe. You are limited to 50 lines in both the directions and ingredients.
INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is recommended that you run RM on a hard disk, but it can be run on a
floppy disk, no provisions have been set up to run it on a floppy disk.
Installation is rather easy, copy the two files, RECIPE.EXE and
RECMASTR.REG to a directory with nothing else in it. (ie, C:\RECIPE\) RM will
create many files, so you do not want to get them mixed up with your other DOS
files or such.
You may also want to copy the included CHKLIST.CPS if you run Central Point
Anti-Virus. With this file, any changes that are made to RM, you will be
alerted. Also, I have immunized this program, this will work even if you do not
run CPAV, if RM has been changed in any way, it will prompt you to either fix it
or return to DOS.
RUNNING
~~~~~~~
To run RM, just simply type "RECIPE" from the DOS prompt. You must have
either MORE.COM in the directory or in the path as it is needed to view certain
files.
OVER VIEW OF COMMANDS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[A] ADD A RECIPE TO DATABASE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To add a recipe to the RM database, you simple press "A" from the
main menu, from that, it will prompt you for some more information.
RECIPE ID CODE # - This is the file name that the recipe will be
stored as, it should be no more than 8
characters, and contain no spaces. The code
should be descriptive, but at the same time, short.
RECIPE NAME - This should be the descriptive name of the recipe.
It can be up to 50 characters, and should be
descriptive as to what it is the food is.
DESCRIPTION - This is where you can put odd nodes, such as where
you got it or how long it takes to cook.
INGREDIENTS - Here you can list all of the ingredients, to save the
list, type "/" on it's own separate line, then select
"s" for save.
DIRECTIONS - This is where you would type the directions. It works
the same way as the ingredients, to save, simply type
"/" on its own separate line, and select "s" to save.
[B] PRINT A RECIPE FROM DATABASE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you have entered a recipe, and are ready to print it, press "B"
from the main menu. RM will give you a list of recipe in the
current directory with the .DES extension, when you select a recipe
to print, do NOT include the .DES extension, or it will not print
properly. When you print it, it will print the three files, the
DES, the ING and DIR to the DOS device PRN.
[C] EDIT A RECIPE FROM DATABASE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To edit an existing recipe, you can edit any of the three files, or
you can edit all of them if you wish, just enter a "Y" or a "N"
beside the DESCRIPTION, INGREDIENTS, or DIRECTIONS, when you come to
the file that you would like to edit, enter the recipe code without
the .DES extension. You can use your favourite text editor. The
only problem is that you must rename the program to "Q.EXE" or
"Q.COM". I have included the best text editor "Q.EXE", it is
recommended that you use it.
[D] VIEW RECIPE DESCRIPTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To view the description of a recipe, press "D" at the main menu, at
that point, RM will give you a list of recipes in the directory, if
the one that you want is there, select "Y" for yes, I would like to
view a recipe. Then, type the recipe name that you would like to
view, be sure to include the .DES extension. This will only display
the description, not the ingredients or directions.
[E] UTILITIES
~~~~~~~~~
In the utilities menu, currently there are not many commands here,
but as the program is enhanced, they will fill up quickly, I already
have some ideas for what to do.
{A} DELETE A RECIPE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I just found the first bug, and fixed it! To
delete a recipe, select "A" from the utilities menu. RM
will give you a list of recipes, it will then ask you if
you are sure you would like to delete a recipe, then it
will ask you which recipe, then re-confirm that you are
about to delete that file. Not hard. Easy to delete a
recipe, be sure that you do NOT include the .DES
extension.
{B} REGISTER RECIPE MASTER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hopefully, if you like RM, you will send in the $10 and
register Recipe Master, when you do receive the code
back, it will be a personalized code specifically for
you. You will have to enter everything in to the
program exactally as it is on the sheet. I will go into
greater detail when you register the program
[X] EXIT RECIPE MASTER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This has to be the hardest part to concur, hit "X" to exit from the
program!
Now, that was not too bad. I still hate writing manuals though. If you have any
comments or questions, please don't hesitate to write me at the address at the
top.
Good luck, and bon appetit!!
