  1.                       CRUNCHY SPICE COOKIES

  4. 2 c. flour
  5. 1 t. cinnamon
  6. 1/2 t. cloves
  7. 1/8 t. nutmeg
  8. 3/4 c. sugar
  9. 3/4 c. brown sugar
  10.  
  11. 2 c. grapenuts
  12. 1 c. melted shortening
  13. 1 t. baking soda
  14. 1/4 c. water
  15. 2 eggsSoak grapenuts in water and squeeze dry.  Combine sugars,
  16. cereal and shortening.  Stir soda into water and add.  Add eggs
  17. and flour and spices and stir well.  Roll spoonfuls of dough into
  18. small balls and place on ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 350
  19. degrees for 15 minutes.  Makes about 8 dozen.
