teaspoonful onto a well greased cookie sheet. Leave in the oven for 2
1/2 hours or overnight, but do not open oven door until time to
remove.

1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup powdered sugar - sifted
1 ea egg yolk - sieved - hard cooked
1 ea egg yolk - raw
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 ea egg white - slightly beaten
1/3 cup sugar - cubes, crushed, (12 to 14)
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
In large mixer bowl, beat butter with electric mixer for 30
seconds. Add powdered sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks
and vanilla. Stir in the flour. Cover and chill 1 hour. Work with a
little dough at a time; keep the remainder chilled. Using about 1
tablespoon dough for each cookie, roll into 6" long ropes. Shape each
into a wreath, overlapping about 1" from ends. Brush each cookie with
egg white; sprinkle with some crushed sugar Place on a ungreased
cookie sheet. Bake in 325 degree oven for 15 to 17 minutes or until
cookies are golden. Cool 1 minute. Remove cookies to a wire rack;
cool.

1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 cup quick cooking oats, uncooked
3/4 cup dark brown sugar - packed, divided
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup cranberries - washed, fresh
2 tsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Using steel blade, place flour, baking powder, oats and 1/2 cup sugar
in food processor bowl; pulse. Add margarine; pulse until mixture is
the size of small peas. Remove 1 cup of crumb mixture and reserve for
topping.
Spray bottom of a 2 quart rectangular glass dish with non stick
vegetable spray. Pat remaining crumb mixture into prepared dish.
Rotating midway through cooking, microwave on high 4 to 5 minutes. Set
aside.
Put cranberries, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, allspice and
cinnamon into a 4 cup glass measure; stir. Cover with plastic wrap,
venting spout area. Stirring midway through cooking, microwave on high
5 minutes. Process in food processor.
Spread cranberry mixture over warm crust. Sprinkle reserved crumb
mixture over top. Rotating dish midway through cooking microwave on
high 3 to 4 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.

18 1/2 oz pkg chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 ea egg
1 cup nuts - chopped
14 oz condensed (not evaporated) milk - can
6 oz chocolate chips - semisweet
1 tsp vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large mixer bowl, beat cake mix, oil
and egg over medium speed until crumbly. Add nuts. Reserving 1 1/2
cups crumb mixture, press remainder firmly on bottom of greased 13 x
9" baking pan. In small saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Over
medium heat, cook and stir until chips melt. Pour evenly over prepared
crust. Top with reserved crumb mixture. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until
bubbly. Cool. Cut into bars. Store loosely covered at room
temperature.

1/2 cup sugar

1 ea egg yolk
1 cup cake flour, sifted

1 cup almond paste or filling

Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add one egg
plus one egg yolk and cake flour. Beat until well blended. Spread in
a 13" x 9" x 2" pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Mix sugar,
almond paste or filling, 2 egg yolks and lemon juice in electric mixer
until blended. Fold in egg whites and vanilla. Spread over baked
crust and sprinkle flaked coconut over top. Bake at 325 degrees for
30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

1 cup walnut pieces, divided
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco
1/2 cup flake coconut
16 oz cream cheese, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 ea eggs
2 tsp vanilla
21 oz cherry pie filling - can
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan with Butter
Flavor Crisco. Set aside. Chop 1/2 cup nuts, coarsely for topping. Set
aside. Chop remaining 1/2 cup nuts, finely.
For Crust: Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in Butter Flavor Crisco
until fine crumbs form. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts and coconut.
Mix well. Remove 1/2 cup. Set aside. Press remaining crumbs in bottom
of pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are
lightly browned.
For Filling: Beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla in
a small bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until smooth. Spread
over hot baked crust. Return to oven. Bake 15 minutes longer.
Spread cherry pie filling over cheese layer. Combine reserved coarsely
chopped nuts and reserved crumbs. Sprinkle, evenly, over cherries.
Return to oven. Bake 15 minutes longer. Cool. Refrigerate several
hours. Cut into bars, about 2 x 1 1/2".

In a large mixer bowl, beat the egg; add brown sugar and beat with an
electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Stir in honey and
molasses. Add dry ingredients to molasses mixture; beat until the
mixture is well combined. Stir in almonds and fruits and peels. Cover;
chill for several hours. On floured surface, roll dough into a 14"
square. Cut into 3 1/2 x 2" rectangles. Place 2" apart on greased
cookie sheet. Bake @ 375 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes or until done.
Cool cookies about 1 minute; remove to wire rack. While cookies are
warm, brush with the Lemon Glaze, if desired.

1 tsp baking powder

Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the butter and
shortening with electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat
until fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. Add the dry
ingredients; beat well. Divide dough in fourths; cover and chill about
3 hours. Working with 1 portion of the dough at a time, on a lightly
floured surface, roll the dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired
shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. (When doing much rerolling
of the dough, try rolling it on a surface dusted with equal parts of
flour and sifted powdered sugar. This helps keep the rolled cookies as
tender as possible.) Bake in a 375 degree oven for 7 to 8 minutes or
until cookies are done. Remove cookies to a wire rack. Cool. Makes 72
to 96.

For almond paste filling: In a small mixer bowl, beat egg whites and
cream of tartar until soft peaks form(tips curl). Gradually add
powdered sugar, beating until stiff peaks form(tips stand straight).
Fold in ground almonds. Set aside.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut
into 3" circles. Place about 1 rounded teaspoon of the almond filling
in center of each. Fold up and pinch 3 sides to form a 3 cornered hat,
leaving the top of filling exposed. Place 2" apart on an ungreased
cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove;
cool on wire rack.

Bake in 350 degree oven 40 minutes until it pulls away from sides of
pan. Cool completely in pan. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut diamond
shaped bars and serve.

Put popcorn in blender and chop fine. Combine in a bowl with nuts.
Beat egg whites until foamy, then add sugar and beat until stiff.

DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix flour, baking soda, salt in a bowl
and set aside. Use electric mixer to mix the two sugars briefly at low
speed. Add the butter in small goblets, mixing first at low speed and
then at high speed. Beat the mix until it is pale, light and very
fluffy. Add vanilla at the mixer's lowest speed, then beat at high
speed for a few seconds. Add the eggs, again at low speed, switching
to high speed for the final seconds. The eggs should be well beaten
in, and the mix should look creamed, not curdled. All the flour,
baking soda, and salt, one half cup at a time, mixing at low speed for
about one minute, then at high speed for a few seconds. Scrape down
the bowl's sides with a spatula, add chocolate chips, mix at low speed
for about 10 seconds. If need be, scrape the bowl's sides again and
mix for a few more seconds. Put tablespoons full of the mix on a
ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until the cookies are pale golden brown
(9 - 11 minutes)Remove and let cool on rack.

ingredients. Add butter; stir with fork until mixture resembles coarse
crumbs. Press half of crumb mixture into bottom of pan. Spread rhubarb
sauce evenly onto crumb layer. Top with remaining crumbs and chopped
walnuts. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and
rhubarb is bubbly. Cool to room temperature before cutting.

1 lb rhubarb - tops removed
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 x pinch salt
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Cut rhubarb into 1" pieces. In 2 qt. saucepan, combine rhubarb with
other ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer
until saucy, 5 to 8 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Refrigerate
until ready to use. To thicken: Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tsp water
and stir into sauce after cooking time above. Cook a few minutes
longer, stirring constantly, until sauce is clear and thickened. Makes
1 3/4 cups.

4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
4 ea eggs
4 3/4 cup powdered sugar - sifted
20 ea anise oil - drops
1 1/2 tsp aniseed - crushed
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Sift together flour and soda. In large mixer bowl, beat eggs with
electric mixer until light. Gradually beat in powdered sugar; continue
beating on high speed about 15 minutes or until mixture resembles
soft meringue. Stir in anise oil. Add about 3/4 of the flour mixture
and beat on low speed until combined. By hand, stir in the remaining
flour mixture. Cover; let stand about 15 minutes. Divide dough into
thirds. On lightly floured surface, roll each portion into 8" square.
Let stand for 1 minute. Dust a springerle (little horse) mold or
rolling pin with additional flour. Press mold on dough hard enough to
make a clear design; repeat for the remaining dough (Roll springerle
rolling pin on dough, pressing hard enough to make a clear design.)
With a sharp knife, cut the rolled cookies apart. Place on a lightly
floured surface; Cover with a towel and let stand about 6 hours or
overnight. Sprinkle a greased cookie sheet with crushed aniseed. Brush
excess flour from cookies. With finger, rub bottom of each cookie
lightly with cold water. Place on prepared cookie sheet. Bake in 300
degree oven about 18 minutes or until a light straw color. Remove to
wire rack; cool.

3 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 ea egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract, optional
DIRECTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------
Stir together flour and baking powder. In large bowl, beat butter or
margarine for 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg,
vanilla, and almond extract, if desired; beat well. Gradually add dry
ingredients to butter mixture and beat until combined. Do not chill.
Force the dough through a cookie press onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Decorate pressed cookies, if desired. Bake in 400 degree oven for 7 to
8 minutes or until cookies are done. Remove cookies to a wire rack;
cool.
