  12.   The EXE archive is not for distribution.  A ZIPed archive is available for
  13. distribution from the MEGAHOST Support BBS at 209-836-2402.

  15. The self extracting file CANNOT unarchive to the disk it came on as there is
  16.   no room and you will get a 'Write Error'!

  18. The MEGAHOST.DOC file can be printed on most Laser printers by setting the
  19.   lines per page to 66.

  24.           ENTERING SYSOP INFORMATION
  25.           ──────────────────────────
  26.  
  27.           You MUST first set up a SYSOP= entry in the .CNF BEFORE INVOKING
  28.           MEGAHOST.  The system will not function properly without this
  29.           entry.  The syntax is:
  30.  
  31.           SYSOP=DON MANKIN
  32.  
  33.           where DON MANKIN is replaced with your own name.

  38. If you have trouble with MEGAHOST, try removing any memory resident software
  39. you may have loaded.  MEGAHOST is known to have trouble with DOS editors.
  40.  
  41. Enabling Xon/Xoff flow control within MEGAHOST sometimes confuses your
  42.  callers not familiar with it's usage.  If enabled, and some line noise sends
  43.  a CTL-S (19 decimal), the callers terminal will freeze until a CTL-Q
  44.  (17 decimal) is received from the caller.  If the caller is unaware of this
  45.  technique, he/she will eventually hang up and complain of BBS troubles.

  48. MEGAHOST REQUIRES character and line pacing on ASCII uploads and auto-logons.
  49. This is accomplished using Procomm by typing ALT S, 6, and changing the
  50. following:
  51.                 Pace Character = 62
  52.                 Character Pacing = 50
  53.                 Line Pacing = 5
  54.  
  55. Other terminal software must be configured likewise.
  56.

  59.   Utilities written to convert MAXIHOST database files to MEGAHOST database
  60.   files are available from the Support BBS.  You should convert the Message
  61.   database if you had it enabled in MAXIHOST, but I would not convert the
  62.   user database.  The best way to assure that all of the user fields are
  63.   populated is to allow MEGAHOST to create the user database itself.

  65.   A program, MEGA_API.EXE is available for EXPERIENCED MEGAHOST users to
  66.   enable them to be able to add/change .CNF entries, display text files,
  67.   disconnect the caller, etc. from BATCHON, BATCHOFF, TRAPDOOR, and EVENT
  68.   batch files.  Use of this interface is on your own initiative.  Minimum
  69.   support will be provided. Improper use of this facility could compromise
  70.   the security of the system.  These features are being tested to see if
  71.   they provide any real value, and may be removed from future releases if
  72.   they prove too complex for the average user and/or support of them become
  73.   too time consuming.

  77. REGISTERED USERS:  Make sure you call the MEGAHOST support BBS occasionally
  78. to keep abreast of new versions and updates.  The number is currently
  79. 209-836-2402.  I'm Sorry, but I do not have the resources to answer phone
  80. calls, nor return mail.  Please use this BBS as our communications vehicle.

  82. Because MEGAHOST is a 'shop before you buy' Shareware product, most
  83. registrants already have a copy of MEGAHOST.  For this reason, diskettes
  84. are not mailed out immediately, but are mailed out with the next release.
  85. Releases vary but usually occur every month or two.  You may request a
  86. current release diskette be mailed instead by leaving a message on the
  87. Support BBS.  You may also request a REGISTRATION number to suffice you
  88. until you receive your diskette.   The registration information would be
  89. entered into your MEGAHOST.CNF as follows:

  93. where 32541 is the registration number provided by me that matches your
  94. registration name of 'MEGAHOST Support BBS'.

  100.     If used for personal use,  a Hobby registration  is necessary.  Use by
  101.     any organization  for any purpose would  be classified as a Commercial
  102.     registration.  Hobby  registrations  are  $29  USD,  while  Commercial
  103.     registrations are $59, still a good bargain.  Only VISA and MasterCard
  104.     can be  accepted via  the Support BBS - the prefered  method.  You may
  105.     also  register using  your AMEX and  Discover  Card by  calling PSL at
  106.     800-242-4775 and  refering to item #10391.  Diskettes are not normally
  107.     mailed out until a new  release is made  available.  You may request a
  108.     registration  number be  left to you via this system,  and/or that the
  109.     current release be mailed instead of waiting for the next one.

  137.  For those  upgrading from  MAXIHOST,  please  read  the MAXIHOST to MEGAHOST
  138.  upgrade information contained in the .DOC file.  You will find your MAXIHOST
  139.  registration number is incompatable  with MEGAHOST so make sure you call the
  140.  Support BBS for your new number. Execute menu item 2 from the
  141. (+)-Registration module.
