:MULTIMEDIA
There's not much more that can be said about `MULTIMEDIA` that hasn't
been demonstrated more thoroughly by the `MULTIMEDIA` demo and the
EXAMPLE batch files. The registration fee for `MULTIMEDIA 1` is
`~$59.00~` plus `~$5.00~` postage and handling for orders outside of
the U.S. Credit Card Orders may be called to `~1-800-847-0309~` and
will generally be shipped out the same day. Check or Money Order
registrations should be sent to:
`CREATIVE MULTIMEDIA SOFTWARE, INC.`
`3005 Glenmoore Avenue`
`Baltimore, MD 21214`
`Inquiries may be directed to ~1-410-665-0193~.` Be sure to ask about
the many other entertaining and educational programs developed by
`~C.M.S.~` They have a whole line of software products designed
specifically for young children that are both educational and fun to
use. {As these programs are User Inter-active, they will keep your
little `Cookie-crunchers` quiet and busy while you attend to other
things. These make `~EXCELLENT~` teaching tools for Kindergarten and
beginning Grade-school teachers.}
:BLACKBEARD
Billed as `User-Supported Software` and created by `JAMES K.`
`POWERS`, `~BLACKBEARD~` has been considered as being a
top-of-the-line Text Editor for more years than I'd like to count. I
will readily admit that I may be a bit biased, but having tried {and
discarded} several dozen different text editors, both large and small,
I'd have to say that `BlackBeard` is the `Five-Star Winner` among
Shareware Text Editors and everyone else is just a `Wanna-Be.` I
believe that you will find that, at a modest `~$20.00~`
`~Registration~` `~Fee~`, `BlackBeard` is probably also one of the
best bargains in the Shareware market. If you can't find `BlackBeard`
on your favorite BBS, the address is ...
`BLACKBEARD`
`P.O. Box 638`
`San Bernadino, CA 92402`
Try it. I'm sure you'll like it ... and if you do, `~REGISTER !~`
:AMIPRO
Once upon a time, Word Processors were relatively simple, clean
and easy to use. You could learn what you needed to know and be up
and running in a matter of a few hours ... a day or two at the most.
Then, the BIGNAME Word Processor Company's Board of Defectives decided
that they could become more commercially dominant if they added more
Beeps, Bells 'n' Whistles to their product. The Product became a
super-glitzy, rangle-spangle program, all right. It attracted
attention, too. However, to the hard-working End User, it became more
and more difficult to use. Bulletin Boards became flooded with a
veritable deluge of Macros and what-not as the Users vainly attempted
to make their BIGNAME Program work like it should.
Along came the Samna Corporation with a product they called `AMI`
`PRO`. It wasn't super-glitzy or flashy. It didn't have all of the
Beeps, Bells 'n' Whistles that the BIGNAME Program had. In fact, the
only thing that `AMI PRO` could do ... `was all of the things` that the
BIGNAME Program was supposed to do if you had a bucketload of Macros
to do it with. It didn't take the `AMI PRO` Users weeks and weeks and
weeks to learn how to use it. In fact, the average `AMI PRO` User is
up, running and feeling thoroughly comfortable with his new WP within
a few hours after installing it ... just like in The Good Old Days,
right ? So, if you want a really good, full-featured Word Processor,
give `AMI PRO` a good, l-o-n-g look. The Samna Corporation is now The
Samna Division of `Lotus Development Corporation`. If you call
`1-800-000-0000`, they'll be happy to send you information about `AMI`
`PRO`. (There's even an excellent working demo of `AMI PRO 3.0` that
they'll send you if you ask them real nice. Tell'em you heard about
it in this Shareware Text.)
:PIANOMAN
Most of the music files used in this demonstration were created by
using `PianoMan` [tm] by `Neil Rubenking` of Support Group,
Incorporated. When compiling the PianoMan "MUZ" files to "EXE", use
the option of `NO TITLE`. Once your graphics is on-screen (and before
you put any screen-clearing command in your driver batch file), insert
the name of the PianoMan self-executing music file. If you want the
User to be able to stop the music at any time, you can also select an
option that will stop the music if you press any key. (I used that
option on the first song, `"Sidewalks of NY"`, in `<VPIC1.BAT.>*`) If
you `=DON'T=` want the User to be able to stop the music, you can
select that option, too. (I used this option with the second, short
song, `"Kerry Dancers"`, in VPIC1.BAT.) Either way, the music can be
used in lieu of the `MULTIMEDIA` "Delay" command as the program will
not continue as long as the music is playing. Your screen graphics
remain on-screen. As they say, "It ain't over until the Fat Lady
sings."
If you wish to know more about PianoMan or to obtain a registered
copy, registration is only `~$25.00~`. Send all correspondence to:
`SUPPORT GROUP, INC.`
`Post Office Box 130`
`McHenry, MD 21541`
... or call `1-301-889-7983`.
:WAYNE_LEMAN
`~THE_MUSIC_MAN~`
The two music files used in this demo were programmed by `Wayne Leman`
of Hardin, Montana. As you may have read in Section Three, Wayne has
graciously consented to supply us with a selection of his Pianoman
musical renditions for inclusion in our Registered Version. However,
`do not let this deter you from loosening your purse-strings` to obtain
more Registered Versions of Leman's music. His music (and others) may
be found in the `CompuServe IBMNEW forum, Music Library` as well as on a
number of music-related bulletin boards. (In the CompuServe music
library, browse on the keyword `PIANOMAN` and look for Wayne's
CompuServe ID number.) I'm sure he will be happy to direct you to
other authors of computer music that you may use in your MULTI-MEDIA 1
Presentations. If anyone is interested in obtaining more excellent
music files from him, you may write to:
`WAYNE LEMAN`
`843 1st St W`
`Hardin, Montana 59034`
`CompuServe 72617,2371`
or go to `<LEMANREG.#>*` and `=Click= or [═╝].` [Note: some of his
music files are `DANCES.ZIP`, `POPULAR.ZIP` and `BAROQUE.ZIP.` In this
tutorial we used a portion of `KERRY.EXE` (renamed `ERRIN.EXE`) from
`DANCES.ZIP` and `NEWYORKH.EXE` {renamed `SIDEWALK.EXE`} from `POPULAR.ZIP.`
:CLEARING
`CLR.EXE` was created as a Shareware product by DolSOFT CREATIONS,
Inc. The registration fee is a modest `~$9.00~`. Send check or money
order to:

`Florence, SC 29505`
`MERGE` appears to be Public Domain programs. There was no
documentation accompanying the programs indicating a Shareware status
or the names of the authors or originators.
