I. What is Jot·It!?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jot·It! is an electronic replacement for all those "WHILE YOU WERE OUT"
notes that you find in many offices today. Jot·It! allows you to use
your network to jot down telephone messages and instantaneously send
them to another user on the network. There are many advantages to using
Jot·It! instead of the paper messages.
■ Unlike paper, Jot·It! has only a one-time cost. The
savings will add up quickly and help to reduce paper.
■ Jot·It! messages never get lost.
■ Jot·It! automatically alerts users when new messages
arrive.
■ Jot·It! automatically places a date and time stamp
on each message.
Jot·It! also has an important advantage over conventional E-Mail systems.
Jot·It! is memory resident. It is available any time at the touch of a
key and it is very small. Jot·It! only takes up 8K of RAM and is
considerably less expensive!
II. Distribution
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may distribute the shareware version of Jot·It! freely with the
following constraint: The distributed copy must contain all the
original files which you received unchanged. You may not, under any
circumstances, distribute a registered version of Jot·It!
The following files must be included with every shareware copy of Jot·It!:
JCONFIG.EXE Jot·It! configuration file
JOTIT.COM Jot·It! TSR
JPRINT.EXE Jot·It! print utility
JUNLOAD.EXE Jot·It! memory unload utility
ORDER.FRM Jot·It! order form
README.DOC The file that you are reading at this moment.
Although the shareware version of Jot·It! limits an installation to
five users, it is not disabled or crippled in any manner. It is
a complete, working version of the software.
The shareware version is differentiated from the registered version
of Jot·It! by the introductory screen. The shareware version displays
a screenful of information about Jot·It! everytime that is is run.
The registered version does not display this screen.
III. Installation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please note that this is file is a highly abbreviated version
of the Jot·It! documentation that is designed to allow you to

Jot·It! must be resident in memory for JPRINT to work.
IX. Passwords
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two levels of password protection available in Jot·It!
You may set a system password from the configuration menu. Once a system
password has been set, no-one will be able to reconfigure Jot·It! without
knowing the system password.
Each user may also assign a password to their username. If a username is
password protected then you cannot access that user's messages without
the password.
To assign a password to a username type the following command at the
