To begin type: <INDEX>
PassWord Protection:
You will be prompted for your PassWord option. If you DO NOT wish to use
PassWord Protection type [N]o and press [ENTER]. At this time you will
be prompted to " Change your Settings ? N " press [ENTER].
If you DO wish to use PassWord Protection type [Y]es and press [ENTER].
You will be prompted to "Change your Settings? N" press [ENTER]. You will
be asked to Initialize PassWord, type your password and press [ENTER]. Then
type your password again and you will execute the program.
I you wish to change you settings at any time simply type [Y]es. You
will be prompted for your password to change your settings. Enter your
password and continue the procedure as previously stated.
NOTE: If no password has ever been Initialized you must Initialize one
before you can change your settings.
At the opening screen simply press the number that corresponds to the
command you wish to execute. The following commands are used in this program.
1) ADD - Add records to file
2) LIST - List records on file
3) LOCATE - Locate all records with given lastname
4) PRINT - Prints all records on file [reg. version]
1) ADD
In the add mode simply add the information you are prompted for, pressing
<ENTER> after each entry. Next you will be asked "IS ENTRY CORRECT ?" . Default
is set to "Y". If your information is all correct press <ENTER> and a blank
index card will appear. Enter your next record. At any time you can exit any
mode by pressing <ESC> key which will return you to the previous screen.
2) LIST
This will list all records in the Data Base File one record at a time in
alphabetical order. Use your and keys to scroll thru records. If you need
to EDIT (make changes) list that record on the screen.
Press <INSERT> key and a second window will appear. Use arrow keys to move
cursor to field you wish to change. Type in your correction and press <ENTER>.
If you wish to Delete a record, list record on screen, Press <DELETE> key.
A WARNING window will appear and ask "ARE YOU SURE ?". Default is set to "N"
for "NO" for your protection! To delete, type "Y" and press <ENTER>.
<ESC> will return to Previous Screen without DELETING the record.
3) LOCATE
This will locate all records with the Lastname you enter. Enter Last Name
when prompted by the program and press <ENTER>. Index will list all the records file
on file with that Last Name ... one at a time!. Press any key to scroll.
4) PRINT
This mode will only work with Registered users so REGISTER NOW.

*** UPDATE ***
Now the Registered version of INDEX has a SCREEN SAVER mode which will
save you screen from damage if you leave the computer unattended. After
(2) two minutes the screen will blackout and a moving prompt will tell
you what to do next.
One more reason to Register NOW.
