  14.    I regret to advise the Commodore
  15.   community that Jim Butterfield has
  16.  passed away. Jim died at 1:30 AM on
  17.  June 29 after battling cancer which
  18.    infected many parts of his body.
  19.  
  20. His family advises that there will not
  21.       be a funeral as such but a
  22. commemoration of Jim's life is planned
  23.    in the next month or two. At the
  24.  moment that is all the detail thbt I
  25.            have to report.

  27.   We have all lost a truly wonderful
  28.          friend and teacher.

  36. Very sad news this issue with the
  37. passing of Jim Butterfield on the 29th
  38. of June 2007, For many Jim was an
  39. inspiration taking complex information
  40. and changing it into a format many
  41. people found easier to digest. I am
  42. sure he will be missed by a great many
  43. people.

  45. Jim_s Work should not be lost, we
  46. should pool our efforts and create a
  47. website with all his works in one
  48. place. Other younger users may not
  49. have read or met Jim and should not
  50. have to go without his words of
  51. wisdom.

  53. I try to contact users and
  54. manufacturers that I would like to
  55. read about as a Commodore user, for
  56. example last month was an interview
  57. with worldlam about potential purchase
  58. of CMD and why he is buying up so much
  59. Commodore equipment. Some people felt
  60. the interview wasn't justified and a
  61. waste of time. I disagree because it
  62. raises the question about CMD and the
  63. problems Maurice is having in
  64. manufacturing the products. Maybe
  65. Maurice should sell the hardware and
  66. concentrate on the software side.

  68. Many people feel angry to Maurice, I
  69. myself feel some anger that Maurice
  70. took my money knowing full well he
  71. could not provide the goods in the
  72. time scale he promised. Also Maurice
  73. won't answer any of my emails, and
  74. requests for a refund of my money.

  76. We need good companies supporting
  77. Commodore but having a company take
  78. money and then have problems providing
  79. the goods is just having a negative
  80. effect on the community.

  82. I was ready for some hate mail from
  83. the Worldlam interview, although it
  84. wasn't realy hate mail more that
  85. people felt there were others who
  86. should have been interviewed instead.
  87. Ok interview them and send me the
  88. questions and answers session, I will
  89. print the text in the magazine
  90. remember the Commodore Free team is
  91. just ME, and it's a lot of work to
  92. produce in just 1 month, also remember
  93. the amount of work that goes into
  94. asking questions, some users agreed to
  95. interviews and I would write the
  96. questions but never receive answers
  97. for whatever reason, this is fine but
  98. it takes me more time, I need your
  99. input and articles.

  107. for any of the Commodore machines
  108. please can you let me know, so I can
  109. include it in the magazine.
