  5. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
  6. -------------------
  7. Jigsaw 2 for Windows is a jigsaw puzzle simulation.  You solve the puzzle by 
  8. dragging and dropping the puzzle pieces with a mouse.  The puzzle pieces 
  9. have the traditional interlocking shapes, and the pieces lock together when 
  10. properly arranged.  A color picture is formed when the puzzle is fully 
  11. assembled.

  13. The computer takes care of the mundane tasks, like finding all the edge 
  14. pieces and sorting pieces by color.  You can save your work in progress and 
  15. return to it later, so this jigsaw puzzle won't tie up your kitchen table.  
  16. And unlike traditional jigsaw puzzles, there's never a missing piece!

  18. Several jigsaw puzzles are included, and there is a facility for generating 
  19. new puzzles from bitmap files (.BMP or .GIF), so your favorite images of 
  20. loved ones or whatever can be made into jigsaw puzzles.  (The puzzle 
  21. generation feature is only available to registered owners of Jigsaw 2).

  32. This program is shareware.  Use it on a trial basis for ten days.
  33. If you decide to keep it, please become a registered user by following 
  34. the instructions in Jigsaw's Help menu.

  37. but not sold.  Distributors may charge a reasonable handling fee.

  39. This program may be converted to other formats for distribution 
  40. (compressed, CD-ROM, 360K diskette, etc.).  The files distributed 
  41. must include, at a minimum: JIGSAW.EXE, JIGSAW.HLP, README.TXT, and 
  42. two or more files with the .JIG extension.

  44. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  46. To run Jigsaw for Windows, you need Windows 3.1 (tm), an industry-standard
  47. computer with a 80286 or higher CPU, a VGA or higher resolution display,
  48. and a mouse.

  60. INSTALLATION
  61. ------------
  62. If you download Jigsaw from an Online service, the files may be in a 
  63. compressed format.  The compressed files have names ending in .ZIP.
  64. Use PKUNZIP to extract the archived files.  For example, 
  65.        
  66.        PKUNZIP JIGSAW20
  67.  
  68. PKUNZIP is a shareware program available from many online services.

  70. RUNNING JIGSAW
  71. --------------
  72. To add the Jigsaw icon to the Program Manager, Select "New..." from the 
  73. "File" menu.  Choose "Program Item" and click OK.  Then use the browser
  74. to select file JIGSAW.EXE.

  76. To run Jigsaw, double-click on the Jigsaw icon.  You can also run Jigsaw 
  77. using the "Run..." command from the Program Manager "File" menu.

  79. Use the Help menu to learn how to play Jigsaw.

  81. PUZZLE FILES AND DISPLAYS
  82. -------------------------
  83. The puzzle files included in this archive are designed for use with VGA or
  84. VESA-compatible Super VGA displays.  The 16-color puzzles can be used with
  85. either 16-color VGA or 256-color Super VGA displays.  The 256-color puzzles 
  86. require a Super VGA display to show the proper colors.

  88. If you have a VGA display operating in a 16-color mode, try the 
  89. following 16-color puzzle files:

  93. If you have a Super VGA operating in a 256-color mode, try these

  98. Version 2.10 will also work with display drivers which display 32K and 
  99. 64K colors.
