  1. PATCH FILE PAGE

  3. Here are the game patches that appeared in Tom McDonald's Extended Play 
  4. column for May.
  5.  
  6. To install these patches, enter the \PATCH subdirectory on our demo disc. 
  7. You'll need to copy each patch into each games appropriate directory on 
  8. your hard drive. You'll need to have a version of PKUNZIP to unzip either 
  9. of these patches. 
  10.  
  11. Colonization CD fix (COLCD.ZIP) - Eliminates the "Could not find CD
  12. volume COLONIZE_CD" error.
  13.  
  14. D-Day (DDAYUP.EXE) - Update for Modem Play. Adds modem play capability and
  15. fixes a number for bugs that were discovered after release.
  16.  
  17. Eight Ball/Royal Flush (M64FIX.ZIP) - AT, Mach 64 fix. Self explanatory.
  18.  
  19. 5th Fleet v1.2 (FLPATC.EXE) - General maintenance patch.
  20.  
  21. Flash Traffic (FTINST.ZIP) - Updated  Install expands the sound card support 
  22. with drivers for the Microsoft Sound  System and cards with the Ensoniq chip, 
  23. including Reveal, Ensoniq Soundscape, and Forte-16.

  25. Fighter Wing Update (FWCD.ZIP) - Deals with VESA problems on 64 bit video 
  26. cards.

  28. Front Lines update 1.01 CD-ROM (FLCDMD.EXE) - In full-screen mode, oppor-
  29. tunity fire and unity summary now work, reports now display correctly, 
  30. various crashes and mouse bugs have been fixed, scenarios will no longer 
  31. present problems redeploying as a certain side or allow you to place units 
  32. in illegal areas, and some new voices have been added. This is not the 
  33. modem patch.

  35. Hammer of the Gods (HOGUPD.EXE) - Fixes mouse droppings (?), low memory 
  36. issues and all known related errors.

  38. Links: The Challenge of Golf 1.62 (GOLF.EXE) - A new executable.

  40. Menzoberranzan 1.1 (MNZOC1.ZIP &  MNZOD1.ZIP) -Separate patches for 
  41. CD-ROM and disk.
  42.  
  43. Return to Zork Updater 1.2 (RTZ12.EXE & RTZCD1.EXE) - Fixes many bugs and 
  44. inconsistencies in the gameplay and replaces several sound/music drivers
  45. to eliminate audio popping and lockups in Sound Blaster, LSE, Pro Audio 
  46. Spectrum and other cards.

  48. Shadows of Cairn DOS/Windows 1.0.021 (SOC21.ZIP) - Adds joystick calibration
  49. profile, sound effects and dungeon art, and fixes CD Audio playback problems, 
  50. installer bugs, and Sound Blaster compatibility problems.

  52. Star Control II Sound Patch (STAR.EXE) - For Logitech, Soundman and 
  53. compatible cards (including PAS-16).

  55. Tanks! "Unofficial" Designer's Patch v.1.25 (TNKTN.ZIP) - Norm Kroger's 
  56. latest patch (not supported by SSI), adds panic fire and retreats, hidden
  57. AT guns, variable weather, horse drawn artillery, reduced effectiveness air
  58. and artillery, and more. It also allegedly plays more "out of control"
  59. than the original, better modeling actual tactical combat.
  60.  
  61. Tigers on the Prowl 1.2 (TOPU12.ZIP) - An improved interface, better AI, and
  62. fixes all known problems.
  63.  
  64. Transport Tycoon (TNTATI.ZIP) - A patch for problems with ATI video cards.
  65.  
  66. Ultima VIII v2.12 (U8ENG.ZIP) - This patch adds targeted jumping, makes fire
  67. spells easier to cast, fixes a number of structural bugs, and introduces a 
  68. better inventory system and cleaner character conversions.

  70. Voyeur (VPATCH.ZIP) - Adds new sound drivers and fixes most other known 
  71. problems.
  72.  
  73. Warcraft v.1.16 (WARCR1.EXE) - General maintenance patch with Unit Editor 
  74. and Cheat Codes.

  76. Wing Commander III Thrustmaster Patch (WC33TM.EXE) - Adds support for the
  77. Thrustmaster coolie hat, while the WC3 Q Vision Patch (QVISIO.EXE) fixes 
  78. certain problems with the Compaq QVision in SVGA mode.

  80. As with all these patches, make sure you have your original files backed up 
  81. in case you need to reinstall. PC Gamer will not accept any responsibility 
  82. for any problems caused by these files or any other file on this CD-ROM.
