  27. Minimum System Requirements
  28. ================================================

  40. To install the demo, download the file
  41. MRDemoV105.exe to any folder and double click 
  42. on it. Follow the install instructions. The 
  43. default folder for the installation is: 
  44.    c:\games\mindrover
  45.  
  46. If you buy the full game, you should install it
  47. in the same folder as the demo. You do not need 
  48. to uninstall the demo first.

  51. Uninstall
  52. ================================================
  53. To uninstall this demo click on the Start menu,
  54. Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and
  55. click on MRDemo. Follow the instructions. This
  56. uninstall program will not remove any folders 
  57. where you have customer vehicles. You will have 
  58. to delete those files by hand.

  61. Compatibility Questions

  63. OS AND GRAPHICS CARDS
  64. This version of the demo should work with more
  65. graphics cards and operating system combinations
  66. than previous versions.
  67.  
  68. Please be sure you have the latest OpenGL drivers
  69. and DirectX drivers. Goto the following websites
  70. to get the drivers:

  75. If MindRover crashes on your machine during 
  76. startup, please send us an email with your system
  77. configuration (processor type, speed, RAM, 
  78. Graphics card, and Operating system) and the 
  79. 'mindrov.log' file, which can be found in the
  80. install folder. The default install folder is
  81.     c:\games\mindrover

  86. IT'S TOO DARK
  87. If your monitor is too dark, then login to the
  88. game, click in the command line text box near 
  89. the bottom center of the screen and type:
  90.    setgamma .8
  91.  
  92. Gamma is not a linear setting. The smaller the
  93. number, the brighter the game will appear. 
  94. The default setting is 1, so you can get a 
  95. brighter picture by choosing a value between 
  96. .6 and .8. Greater than 1 will be darker.

  99. HOW DO I TURN DOWN THE SOUND
  100. With the demo, we substituted midi sound for the
  101. much nicer Red book audio that you get in the
  102. full game. Unfortunately you cannot control the
  103. volume of the midi music from the options screen
  104. in the game.  You must use your windows volume
  105. control and adjust the midi slider.

  108. Demo Limitations
  109. ================================================
  110. This demo MindRover game allows for full 
  111. playability with a limited number of scenarios 
  112. and a limited number of components.
  113.  
  114. There are two tutorials, one testing ground, and 
  115. three other scenarios. The 'Track Battle' scenario
  116. is replaceable, so we can develop a new scenario 
  117. that demo players can download later. It will
  118. overwrite the 'Track Battle'.
  119.  
  120. Once you have created a custom vehicle, you can
  121. send it to your friend or submit it to a contest
  122. (see the section called Download/Upload vehicles).
  123. But you will not be able to run any vehicles that
  124. include components that you do not have in the demo.
  125.  
  126. So if your friend has the full game and creates a 
  127. vehicle for 'Track Battle', most likely you will 
  128. not be able to see his vehicle in your demo
  129. version of the game. But he should be able to see
  130. your vehicle in his version of the full game.

  132. The full game has over 20 scenarios, and about 50
  133. components. Plus you can download new components
  134. and scenarios from our website.

  140. Download/Upload vehicles
  141. ================================================
  142. Once you have created a custom vehicle, you may
  143. want to send it to your friend or submit it to
  144. a Demo Contest. 
  145.  
  146. Before leaving MindRover, rename your vehicle
  147. to something unique. Two vehicles with the same
  148. name cannot run in MindRover.
  149.  
  150. Use Windows Explorer to find the folder where 
  151. you installed the demo.  The default is:
  152.   c:\games\mindrover
  153.  
  154. In this folder you will see the 'vehicles' folder
  155. and within that folder will be 'guest' folder. 
  156. You will see three versions of your vehicle file:
  157.   <name>.ice - the ICE program file
  158.   <name>.wst - the wire state file
  159.   <name>.vmf - the virtual machine file
  160.  
  161. If you give someone just the <name>.vmf file, 
  162. they will be able to compete their vehicle 
  163. against yours, but will not be able to see your
  164. vehicle's wiring or modify anything about your
  165. vehicle.

  167. If you give someone all three vehicle files, they
  168. will be able to modify your vehicle and see its
  169. wiring. Do this when you are ready to share your
  170. strategies.

  172. These vehicle files are very small and can be
  173. attached to an email.
