This upgrade addresses the following areas of the game:
1. Swing Meter Improvements:
a. Mis-hits tuning for all levels of play, especially PRO mode.
b. Hook and Slice mis-hits are now equal to each other.
c. Mis-hits are now graduated based on club length.
d. Swing Meter optimized for smoother swing.
2. Hardware Mode fixes related to PIP and Fog settings.
3. Leaderboard improvements in PATP.
4. Texture caching optimizations for low-mid (32-64 MB) RAM systems with high (16-32 MB) video RAM cards.

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 Read Me contains the latest information regarding installation, hardware, network, and gameplay compatibility.
This text is an addendum to the documentation supplied with the game software; for further instructions please read the game's manual and reference card.

I. Installation
-------------------------
It is recommended that you close all other applications before you begin installing Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Be sure that you check your computer's hard disk space before you begin. Note: you will need the game CD in your computer to start Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 for all installation types.
The game installs into a default directory: C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. You can select one of five different installs:
This product requires that you insert the CD each time you attempt to start the program. After the program has started, you may remove the CD, except where noted below with certain installations.
Compact: Installs the necessary data to play the game (approximately 65 MB). Golfers and Courses are not installed and the game CD is required to play. Note: You cannot play music CDs with this install.
Typical: Installs the necessary data including Tiger Woods and Pebble Beach Golf Links (approximately 230 MB). The game CD is required to play the game if you want to select additional golfers or courses that are shipped with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Note: You cannot play music with this install unless Tiger Woods and Pebble Beach Golf Links are selected.
Complete: Installs all the necessary data, golfers, and courses to play the game (approximately 600 MB and 835 MB including Course Architect). You do not need the game CD to play Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 or view video files. This will also install the Course Architect 2000 application and related files. Note: You can play music CDs with this install.
Laptop: Suitable for laptop owners. Installs all the necessary data, golfers, and courses to play the game (approximately 530 MB). You will need to insert the game CD to play movie files. Note: You can also play music CD with this install.
Custom: This install is for advanced users that allow you to select which data to install on your hard disk. You can install all features in the game, including Golfers, Courses, Videos, and Audio (approximately 65 MB to 835 MB).
If you want to install Course Architect 2000, select START\PROGRAMS\EA SPORTS\COURSE ARCHITECT after Tiger Woods 2000 Game Disc 1 is installed. Your computer will need at least 50 MB of available memory on the hard disk.
You can also run the Course Architect 2000 by placing Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 Game Disc 1 in drive and run install setup. The installation selection screen is prompted. Select either of Course Architecture 2000 tabs to begin the installation process.

II. Adding More Courses and Golfers

You can install additional courses and golfers from previous EA SPORTS golf products to Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Such products are: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Collection, Tiger Woods 99 PGA TOUR Golf, SENIOR PGA TOUR, The Monterey Courses, The Vegas Courses, The Tournament Courses, and The TPC Courses.
In order to install additional courses and golfers, use the More Courses and Golfers installation option in START\Programs\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\More Courses and Golfers. You will be prompted to select which course or golfer to be installed in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Note: Do not use the Autorun setup program that is included in any of these products.

III. Multi-Course Tournament

When you install additional courses to Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000, the
swings for Multi-Course Tournament will add these courses into the schedule. You can use The Vegas Courses, The Tournament Courses, The TPC Courses, The Monterey Courses, and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Collection.

IV. Playing MP3 and Music CDs
------------------------------------
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 uses Microsoft's Media Player to randomly play
your MP3s in the game. If you cannot play MP3s in the game, we recommend that you download and install the latest version of Media Player from www.microsoft.com.
We require that you copy the MP3's you wish to listen to in the game into C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\MP3. If you decide to uninstall the game, a prompt will appear during the uninstall process to delete your MP3s.
In order for the game to properly play MP3s, you should insert your favorite songs into C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\MP3 before you start the game.
To play your favorite music CD, eject the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 game and reinsert a music CD in the Main Menu. You may experience problems if Windows 95/98's Auto Insert Notification is enabled. To disable this option, go to Device Manager within the operating system's Control Panel. Note: you play music CDs in the game with only Complete or Laptop install.

V. Customizing Portraits
---------------------------
It is recommended that your custom portrait is exactly 145x145 pixels or you may experience problems when running Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Your portraits need to be in a bitmap (.bmp) format. Please consult your photo/image application before attempting to customize your portrait in the game. Note: We recommend that you make a copy of your portrait(s) before moving the .bmp file(s) into C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\User folder. Your portrait(s) in the USER folder will be deleted if you decide to uninstall the game. If you decide to uninstall the game, a prompt will appear during the uninstall process to delete your portraits.
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 supports both 2D and 3D accelerated video drivers.
You will be prompted to select a video card driver and resolution at the end of each install. You can also change video card settings at your preference by selecting START\PROGRAMS\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\3D Setup.
If you are having problems running the game with 3D acceleration, we recommend you download the latest video card driver. Contact your computer manufacturer for assistance. Also, we recommend reinstalling DirectX 7.0a.
When running Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 in 3D acceleration, the game automatically detects your video card and select settings for Terrain and Object detail. Depending on your computer's processor, RAM, and video card, you can increase the Terrain and Object detail within 3D Options in the front end of the game. Note: by changing default settings for Terrain and Object detail, you may experience 3D rendering problems as well as long load times between holes.
In addition, if you decide to either change Fog, Terrain Detail, and\or Object Detail, you will be prompted to restart the game. The game CD needs to be your computer in order to complete the rendering process. As you attempt to run the game at a display resolution higher than 1024x768, be sure your video card and monitor can support 3D acceleration at this resolution. Please consult with you computer and monitor manufacturer for hardware limitations. If you experience problems running the game at a high resolution, we recommend that you run the game at 800x600. You can change game resolution within the Option Menu located in the front end of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Note to Voodoo 2 video card owners: We recommend that you run the game no higher than 800X600.

VII. Reinstalling DirectX

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 requires Microsoft's DirectX 7.0a. If you have problems running the game, you can reinstall DirectX 7.0a, which is located within the game CD. To reinstall, open Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 and select DXSETUP.EXE. If you cannot locate this file on the game CD, you can also reinstall DirectX 7.0 by selecting START\PROGRAMS\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\DX End User License Agreement on the Desktop.

VIII. Unsupported 2D and 3D Video Cards
----------------------------------------------
The following 2D and 3D video chipsets are unsupported based on the current video driver provided by each manufacturer:
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000's Pro Swing calibration is based on your current mouse setting in Windows 95/98. While calibrating Pro Swing in the game, you may experience difficulties adjusting the mouse movement as you attempt to hit the contact line. To make additional adjustment, exit the game and change the motion under Mouse Properties (located in the Control Panel). Note: It is designed that the contact line is removed for Pro level golfer settings.
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 saves your game settings into a file called Lastgame.dat located in C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. The game will reset to its default settings if you delete this file.
Before you begin running the game, you should end task all running programs and applications that are in the background. Any reminder applications that pop up windows to the front at regular or scheduled times may cause interruptions while playing.
You will need the game CD to start the game. Once the game is loaded, you can remove the game CD. This is effective if you want to play a LAN game with one CD or music CDs in the game.

X. EA SPORTS Net
---------------------
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 supports both IPX/SPX and TCP/IP LAN protocols. Depending on your network configuration, all computers that you want to link must use the same protocol. You can change LAN protocol IPX/SPX or TCP/IP in the Options menu located in the front end. If you experience problems in LAN or Internet play after quitting and trying resume games as many times quickly, please exit the game and restatrt your system. If you are having problems connecting to a LAN game, contact your network administrator for assistance.
In order to play LAN games with one game CD, all computers are required to have either a Laptop or Complete install. Insert the game CD and start Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. Once the game has loaded into the front end, eject the game CD and insert it at another computer.
You are required to have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to log onto the EA SPORTS match up server. Before you begin playing on the Internet, log onto your ISP before you run Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. To play on the EA Match-up server, you will need to sign up for a name and password at http://tiger2000.easports.net. We recommend that you install all golfers and courses onto the hard disk for Internet play. The game will search for a substitute animation if all golfers are not installed on the hard disk. This is also helpful in order to decrease latency over the EA SPORTS match up server. Note: There is no voice chat feature for Internet play in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000.
You can change the names on the Tournament Leaderboard by modifying the .rst files in C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\Schedule. Select a .rst file and open it with Windows 95/98 Notepad. Replace the names or initials originally in these files with your own names. Be sure the new text you entered are between each brackets. For example, it should be displayed as [John Doe] once you finished editing a name on the roster.
You can also change the tournament schedules for Multi-Course Tournament (MTourney.dat)and PGA TOUR season mode (PGA. All schedules are identified as .dat files in C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\Schedule. To open a .dat file, use Windows 95/98 Notepad. Do not include spaces in the folders of courses to be played otherwise they will not cycle through properly in swing mode. EA SPORTS and Electronic Arts will not support customer modified files. If after you've attempted to edit any of these files, you are having problems in the game, we recommend that you copy over the originals from the program CD. They will be in ../TW2000/data/schedules/..
Once you have opened a .dat file, you can change name of tournament(s), number of rounds, and course. The name of tournament is located with text between brackets. If you want to change the name of the tournament, replace the text in the bracket with the name of your event. When selecting number of rounds for a custom tournament, the maximum amount of rounds is five and the minimum amount is one. To select a course played at your tournament, enter the name on COURSE line. For example, if you want to play at TPC Scottsdale, enter "Scott /TPC of Scottsdale" on the COURSE line.
This is best used if you want to change the names on the Leaderboard, Tournament Swings, or PGA TOUR schedule.
Commands used and parameters allowed:
[TOURNAMENT NAME] -- A text variable that names the tournament. Must be in brackets. Recommended string length max = 32
ROUNDS -- Take a single digit between 1 and 4, this command sets the number of rounds played at a given course. This product does not support playing rounds greater than than 4.
STARTDATE -- Takes abbreviated months and start dates to the tournament you are editing in the following form: JAN/1
COURSE -- Takes the folder name of the course you would like to add. You can find the folder names of the courses you have installed in C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000\Data\Courses. This is followed by a TAB and /full course name/
You can add comments and notes to your custom schedules and tournaments by starting the line with a semi-colon ";"
Example:
; This is a comment about modifying roster, schedules, and tournament swings.

XII. Golfers and Statistics
---------------------------------
We recommend that you do not select your created golfers as CPU. If you want to play against CPU golfers, use the pre-installed golfer for a challenging match. As you play with a created golfer, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000 tracks your statistics for all events. However, the statistics system does not track pre-installed golfers. If you want to play the game while tracking statistics, then playing with a created golfer is the alternative.
The game will update your created golfer's statistics after you play an event.

XIII. Importing a Custom Course

When creating a custom course with EA SPORT's Course Architect 2000, you can play your created course in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2000. In order to upload your custom course into the game, select FILE\COPY TO GAME in the Course Architect 2000 menu. The course tool will automatically install the course into the ../data/courses/.. directory of the game. Do not use spaces in created courses' name nor the destination folder since it may not properly work with certain game modes in the product.
Note - your custom course is not intended to play with CPU golfers. Thus,you may experience problems while attempting to play against CPU golfer on your custom courses. Please see documents for Course Architect 2000 for further assistance.
