  6. Installation Instructions:

  8. 1.  Insert the DEMO CD in your CD-ROM drive.
  9. 2.  Type:  D:DEMO [Enter]    where D: is the drive letter of your CD-ROM.
  10. 3.  Follow the instructions on the screen.

  13. Running the demo:

  15. 1.  Change to the MOONDEMO directory.
  16.          Type:  CD \MOONDEMO [Enter]
  17. 2.  Start the demo.

  25. Accessing the On-Line HELP SYSTEM during game play:

  27. 1.  Select the Video plus Interactive demo.
  28. 2.  Press the [Enter] key to switch to interactive mode.
  29. 3.  Click on the <?> button or press the F1 key.

  32. HOW TO MAKE MORE MEMORY AVAILABLE:
  33.  
  34.  If you have less than 2 MB of extended memory AFTER THE GAME HAS LOADED,
  35.  there will not be enough room for storage of critical data and the program
  36.  will terminate with an 'insufficient memory' message.
  37.  
  38.  SOLUTION:  Free up as much extended memory as you can by removing any
  39.  DISK CACHE or RAM DISK programs (i.e. SMARTDRV or RAMDRIVE).  Also free up as
  40.  much lower 640k memory as possible by removing non-critical TSR programs.
  41.  One way to accomplish this is to make a BOOT DISK that contains only essential
  42.  drivers and data.  Once the BOOT DISK is created, you simply restart the
  43.  computer with the BOOT DISK in the floppy drive.  This method can make more
  44.  memory available by 'cleaning up' the boot process.  You can return the
  45.  computer to its normal state by removing the BOOT DISK and then reseting the
  46.  computer.  A special BOOT DISK MAKER is provided with this program to assist
  47.  in this process.

  49.    To use it, go to the MOONDEMO directory and type:     BOOT [enter]
  50.  
  51.  Be sure to have a floppy available for use as the BOOT DISK.

  54. VIEW KEYS
  55.  
  56. KEY    VIEW    (Movement mode only - Key must be held down)
  57.  
  58. A    Look LEFT 30 degrees
  59. S    Look RIGHT 30 degrees
  60. Z    Look to the REAR
  61. Q    Look LEFT 90 degrees
  62. W    Look RIGHT 90 degrees
  63. D    Look DOWN 30 degrees
  64. F    Look UP 30 degrees

  66. NOTE:
  67. The above VIEW KEYS do not alter the walking direction but simply act
  68. as a 'Head Turn' as long as the key is held down.  When the key is released,
  69. the view will return to the forward view.

  71. TO CHANGE YOUR WALKING DIRECTION to match the current view, DOUBLE CLICK the
  72. left mouse button or switch to Interactive Mode while the VIEW KEYS are pressed.

  77. SOUND CARD TROUBLE SHOOTING
  78.  
  79. NOTE: Most sound cards provide a mixer program for adjusting relative volumes.
  80. You may need to run this program and set your volumes before starting the game.

  82. SOUND BLASTER AWE 32:
  83.  - The AWE 32 will auto detect as a Sound Blaster 16. You will need to
  84.    manually select AWE 32 in the configuration screens.
  85.  
  86. ESS AUDIO DRIVE:
  87.  - Will autodetect as a Sound Blaster but will not work. You must
  88.    use the ESS driver.
  89.  
  90. AZTEC SOUND GALAXY:
  91.  - Can be configured as a Sound Blaster or a Microsoft Sound system. We suggest
  92.    you use the Microsoft setting for better quality sound.
  93.  - The Sound Galaxy will detect as a Microsoft Sound System but the DMA Channel
  94.    returned may be incorrect for the card. You may need to try a different
  95.    DMA Channel to make the driver work.
  96.  
  97. GRAVIS ULTRASOUND & ULTRASOUND MAX:
  98.  - There is currently no MIDI driver for Gravis but we hope to have one soon.
  99.    Please contact us for an update.
  100.  - Autodetect may lock up when it tries to find a Sound Blaster with a Gravis
  101.    in the computer. If this happens, turn off your computer and restart. The
  102.    next time, autodetect will bypass Sound Blaster and correctly detect Gravis.
  103.  
  104.    NOTE: If you get an "off board parity error" or "CMOS mismatch error",
  105.      don't worry, simply turn the computer off and restart.
  106.  
  107. ENSONIQ SOUNDSCAPE:
  108.  - Autodetect will detect the Ensoniq as a Sound Blaster and a Microsoft Sound
  109.    System but will not work correctly. You must use the SoundScape driver.
  110.  - The first time you press the "Sound Test" button following a autodetect you
  111.    may hear static or silence. If you have selected the SoundScape driver,
  112.    press the "Sound Test" button a second time and it will work fine.
  113.  
  114. MICROSOFT SOUND SYSTEM:
  115.  - If you attempt to configure the Microsoft Sound system as a General MIDI
  116.    device, you will lose music completely.  In order to restore music you will
  117.    have to exit and re-enter the demo and configure the MIDI device as a
  118.    Microsoft Sound system.
  119.  
  120. MEDIA VISION PRO AUDIO 16
  121.  - Users with VESA local bus video cards may experience distorted sound.
  122.    Sometimes configuring the card as a Sound Blaster will improve this problem.
  123.  
  124. LOGITECH SOUNDMAN 16
  125.  - May be configured as a Media Vision Pro Audio 16 or a Sound Blaster 1.0.
  126.  
  127. ROLAND RAP 10
  128.  - Will work as a MIDI music device but does not currently work as a
  129.    Digital Sound device.  Call us for an update.
