  2.         Imperialism Demo

  4. Welcome to the Imperialism Preview Demo.  
  5. You must run the demo through Win95.  
  6. This demonstration version was created 
  7. to provide you with an opportunity to 
  8. experience the general look and feel of 
  9. Imperialism.  Several shortcuts and 
  10. allowances were made to make this demo 
  11. easy to play.  By making the demo easier 
  12. we have eliminated some of the early
  13. challenges that will be provided in the 
  14. final retail version of the game.  Rest 
  15. assured that all the challenges and the
  16. ability to play at more difficult levels 
  17. will be provided in the final retail 
  18. version of Imperialism.  Many of the 
  19. final features are not available in this 
  20. version.

  22. You will only be able to play for the 
  23. first ten years of the game, just enough 
  24. to get the flavor.  There is extensive 
  25. online help to get you started.  If you 
  26. need to consult the online help press 
  27. the "?" button which is found in the 
  28. upper right corner on most of the game 
  29. screens.

  31. If your Win95 Taskbar appears in the 
  32. game, ensure that your task bar settings 
  33. are set to "autohide" and NOT set to 
  34. "always on top." To check, move your 
  35. cursor over the taskbar and click the 
  36. right mouse button.  Select "Properties" 
  37. to bring up the Taskbar Properties 
  38. dialogue box.  Make sure "Always on Top" 
  39. is not checked. "Auto hide" may be 
  40. checked.  If you make a change, make sure 
  41. you left mouse click on "Apply" before 
  42. exiting.

  45. Some known bugs:
  46.  
  47. Occasionally in the tactical battle 
  48. moving a unit may cause a crash. If you 
  49. place a civilian unit in a minor power 
  50. in which you have an embassy and order 
  51. them to work, the game may crash.

  53. Imperialism will ship in the Fall 1997.
