TigerShark(tm) Playable Demo v1.0b for Windows 95.
(c)1997 n-Space, Inc. All rights reserved.
This is a one-level interactive demo of TigerShark(tm) for
Windows 95.
Features:
Windows 95 32-bit Application
DirectDraw, DirectSound, and DirectInput Support
MMX Accelerated 16-bit Graphics
3Dfx Accelerated Graphics
DIRECTX WARNING:
This game demo REQUIRES Microsoft DirectX 3.0 or later. If
you do not already have DirectX 3.0 you can obtain a copy
from Microsoft at:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/downloads/
Note that the older versions of DirectX do not have all the
features that this demo requires.
3DFX WARNING:
Running this demo on a Voodoo system (Orchid Righteous 3D, Diamond
Monster 3D, etc.) REQUIRES Glide 2.1.1 or later Windows 95 drivers.
You can get the newest drivers from 3Dfx at:
http://www.3dfx.com/game_dev/updates_bench.html
Follow the link to your card's manufacturer.
------------------------------GETTING STARTED----------------------------
Start TigerShark by running GO.EXE. This starts the TigerShark
menu. Follow these quick-start steps to launch TigerShark:
1) Click the "Install" Button
This makes a few entries in the Windows 95 Registry
and displays an informational message about DirectX.
2) Click the "Configure" Button (don't worry, it will appear
after clicking Install)
This opens the configuration menu. The text below
contains a detailed explaination, but here's the quick tour:
A) Look at the Controls panel for the control keys
B) Look at the Video panel and click on MMX or 3Dfx
if you're lucky enough to have one of these
C) Click "Ok" at the bottom of the menu
3) Click the "Launch" Button (Back on the TigerShark Menu)
This starts the actual game. You'll see GT's logo,
our logo, and a TigerShark title screen. For the impatient,
just about any key will flip through these.
When you get to the menu, choose "Start New Mission" and then
choose a difficulty level. Note, training is not available
in this demo version, so pick one of the other three.
Slide show time: you'll be shown four slides including a
mission overview, and pictures of your three targets. Once
again, just about any key will skip through the slides.
The adventure begins.
REMOVAL:
This demo stores some settings in the Windows 95 Registry.
To remove these, click the "Remove" button from the main TigerShark
menu. You will have to delete the directory that you unzipped
the TigerShark demo into.
----------------------------CONFIGURATION MENU---------------------------
HELP:
A small help description is included the configuration menu.
Just click on the "?" button in the upper right corner and then on
the button, panel, or label that you want help with. Most of the
windows are fairly self evident how to use, but this can help you
with most of the common questions.
CONTROLS:
All available controls sets and their configuration options
are shown on the Controls Tab of the Configration Menu.
This demo defaults to a basic keyboard control set. An example
of a more advanced keyboard controls set is provided as well.
Also provided are several joystick configurations, as well as a
mouse configration and a few custom configurations for specific
controllers.
By clicking on the control mapping buttons, you can remap any of
the controls to any button (keyboard, mouse, joystick). Where
applicable you can choose any valid joystick or mouse axis.
When you customize a control set, the control set label at the
top of the Control Menu will go blank. The demo will retain this
setting when you restart the game, but to be safe you should use
the Save Control Set option to NAME and SAVE your control set.
It will then be listed with the provided sets and you can
reselect it at any time.
The basics of what the controls do are explained later on in the
gameplay section of the README.
INPUT DEVICES:
This panel allows you to select which joystick device you want to
use. Note, that you have to MAKE SURE that your devices are
installed and calibrated yourself. You can do this from the Joystick
Icon in the Windows 95 Control Panel or you can use our Properties
button on this menu.
VIDEO SETTINGS:
This demo uses DirectDraw to render to the screen. If you do not
have the right video drivers (or good drivers for that matter) for
your video card, you may not be able to run the game at all or it
may run poorly. Certain video cards run much better in DirectDraw
than others. For best results, obtain the latest DirectDraw driver
for your card from either Microsoft or the hardware manufacturer.
AUDIO SETTING:
This demo uses DirectSound for digital sound effects. If your
sound card does not have DirectSound support, or has a bad driver
don't expect much from the sound. For best results, obtain the
latest DirectSound driver for your card from either Microsoft
or the hardware manufacturer.
Depending on your system, the Audio Quality setting can have a
significant impact on performance. If TigerShark seems choppy,
try using the 8-bit, 11 kHz, or Mono (uncheck Stereo) settings.
---------------------------------GAME PLAY-------------------------------
WEAPONS:
You have two weapons systems available. The cannon and phased
plasma repeater operate above water and below water respectively.
Likewise, the missile and torpedo system operate above and below
water respectively.
The select weapon key cycles between the following missiles:
SR70 Straight-line rocket
ECM Electronic Counter-Measure
SM25 Homing missile
The select weapon key cycles between the following torpedos:
MK65 Homing torpedo
EMP Electro-Magnetic Pulse (use to reset Japanese tap)
ECM Electronic Counter-Measure
MK60 Straight-line torpedo
MISC:
Pressing both the throttle up and down at the same time will
bring the TigerShark to a quick stop.
Pressing both left and right at the same time will hold the
current turn speed.
Use the turn fast button with the keyboard and/or gamepad
to increase your turn rate. A joystick or mouse already has
the full range of motion and does not require the fast turn.
