  37. Troubleshooting.
  38.  
  39. Q:  I cannot get the game to work at all with my computer?
  40.  
  41. A:  The most common cause of problems with a  Windows 95 native product are the
  42.     incompatibilities with Directx and the Hardware. If you are having trouble
  43.     with sound or video with a native Windows 95 game, there is a possibility
  44.     that some of your hardware is experiencing difficulty communicating with
  45.     the Microsoft Directx Drivers. To test your current Drivers for Directx
  46.     compatibility, click on your 'start' button at the left hand corner of your
  47.     task bar, then select 'Find' and then 'Files or Folders. In the 'Named'
  48.     selection, type in 'DXSETUP' and hit the return key, this should locate
  49.     the file 'DXSETUP.EXE' now double click on 'DXSETUP.EXE' to launch it.
  50.     This will bring up a small box that displays your current Directx drivers
  51.     down the left hand side and their status to the right, all directx drivers
  52.     need to be certified, if any have spaces next to them you will need to
  53.     update that driver.

  55.     If for example your 'Primary Display Driver' is not certified then you
  56.     will need to contact either Microsoft or the  manufacturer of your video
  57.     card and get them to send you a set of their latest Directx certified
  58.     drivers, you will then need to install these on your machine and run
  59.     'DXSETUP.EXE' to check that all your drivers are now certified.

  63. Q:  Whenever I try to play the game, all the colours appear to be incorrect.
  64.  
  65.  
  66. A:  Most of our current Windows 95 titles are designed to run at a display
  67.     setting of 640 x 480 with 256 colours. If you are trying to start a
  68.     Windows 95 game and are experiencing strange colours or the game does not
  69.     start at all then try changing your display settings. Right click on your
  70.     desktop and click on the 'setting'  tab and change your 'colour palette'
  71.     to 256 colours and your 'desktop area' to 640 x 480. Reboot you machine
  72.     and now try starting your game again.
  73.  
  74. Q:  When the game is played, there is no audio.
  75.  
  76. A:  If you are having any sound problems with your game make sure all of your
  77.     Directx Drivers are certified (See Directx Problems).
  78.     Not having the correct sound drivers can cause your machine to lock, make
  79.     the screen go blank or not give you any sound. If you experience any of
  80.     these problems contact your Sound Card manufacturer and get them to send
  81.     you their latest drivers.

  83. Q:  Whenever I play the game using the keyboard, if a certain combination of
  84.     keys are pressed then I get no response.
  85.  
  86. A:  Certain types of keyboard will have no response when a sequence of keys
  87.     are pressed at the same time. This is a keyboard hardware fault. If you
  88.     experience this problem, try the alternate trim keys.
  89.  
  90. Q:  Whenever I try to play Powerboat Racing in 3D Hardware accelerated mode
  91.     with my 3D graphics card, the game will not work.
  92.  
  93. A:  Powerboat Racing supports hardware cards via D3D.  At the time of
  94.     release of this demo, certain cards e.g. PowerVR are yet to receive final
  95.     testing and driver updates.
  96.  
  97. Q:  Occasionally when I play the game using a 3DFX card, I get black lines
  98.     across the water.
  99.  
  100. A:  This is not a problem with the game or your computer, but the drivers that
  101.     are being using with the 3DFX card.  Go to your video card manufacturer's
  102.     web site and download the latest set of drivers.
  103.
