Installation Notes for the Flight Unlimited Beta Patch vF2.01S
This patch contains following bug fixes and enhancements:
1. New code for joystick hat calibration which should fix the spinning
cockpit and views caused by improper hat calibration with Thrustmaster &
Logitech Wingman joysticks.
2. New code for joystick calibration which should fix joystick non-detection.
and also joystick miscalibration.
3. Throttle calibration bug. On several combinations of game card,
machine and joystick, the joystick throttle calibration only
gave you from %50 to max. This should be fixed.
4. New code which traps and avoids the divide overflow error caused by
old mouse drivers. Use MS Mouse driver 8.20a or higher.
5. There are two fixes to the video code. The first caused Flight to
not recognize certain video cards as being VESA 2.0 compliant.
The second Kept the palette from being initialized correctly on
certain video cards. Please note that the univbe driver supplied
with Flight Unlimited will *not* work with the Matrox Millennium
video card. If you chose to install univbe then you will need
to either re-install and answer no when asked if you would like
to install univbe, or start Flight by typing "flight +nounivbe"
(minus the quotes, of course), then press enter.
8. Starting Flight by typing "flight +nothrottle" (minus the quotes)
at the command line or putting "nothrottle" on a blank line in your
flite.cfg file kills the joystick throttle. If you don't
want joystick throttle or if you're using 2 joysticks, one as main
control, one as rudder, you won't get throttle changes.
9. People having headset detection problems particularly of the
virtual i/o eyeglasses should NOT run from windows 95. Also, if
the system has problems detecting the virtual i/o you should
add +vio at the command line or add "vio" to your flite.cfg. This
prevents flight from trying to autodetect any other kind of headset
which appears to cause problems on some machines.
10. Total energy compensation has been added to the Grob's variometer.
( Thanks to Stig Oye of the Department of Fluid Mechanics at Technical
University Denmark for his assistance.)
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Copy the included file fupat201.exe to the flight directory on your hard
drive. Execute it by typing "fupat201.exe. (minus the quotes of course)
then press enter. This will unpack 2 files. Next type "patch."
This will unpack the actual patch files. Then type "go" and press enter
to start the patch process. When you are asked if it is ok to overwrite
any files answer yes.
The patch will now be installed and you can start Flight as you normally
would. The new code will now be in effect.
OPERATION NOTES
If you still have problems calibrating your joystick please hold it in
place for 1 second after you push it's button in each of the positions
you are asked to move it to during the calibration procedure.
If you have a Wingman Extreme select Thrustmaster in the joystick calibration
box. You will be asked to move your joystick hat to all 4 corners. Please
move the hat slowly and make sure to move it all the way to the corners.
CH joysticks use a different method of sending hat data and will calibrate
automatically.
You should make sure that the throttle is not pushed all the way
away from you when you start Flight. That can result in the throttle not
being detected at all. Pull it all the way towards you, or center it
before running Flight.
