  18. A.    Introduction
  19. The Dungeon Siege Tool Kit (DSTK) is a comprehensive package containing powerful editing tools used to create original content for Dungeon Siege. The DSTK includes the following tools: Siege Editor, Siege Max, DS Anim Viewer, and DSMod. The Siege Editor is a very flexible tool for building fully functional worlds and is packed with features that allow almost any scenario imaginable, without ever having to write out code by hand. Siege Max, working in conjunction with Discreet's« gmax(tm) development package, is a powerful tool for exporting characters, objects, and terrain models into Siege Editor. The DS Anim Viewer allows for quick viewing of objects and character animations. DSMod helps the user to see new content that was created with the Siege Editor or Siege Max, which can aid in debugging game modifications.

  21. B.    System Requirements
  22. Dungeon Siege Tool Kit requires that you own a copy of Dungeon Siege and that your system meets the minimum requirements on the box.

  24. The Siege Editor Minimum System requirements:

  26.     o Dungeon Siege version 1.1 or greater is required.
  27.     o A 16 MB video card that supports 3-D graphics in a window (as opposed to full screen only). Desktop resolution settings can have a drastic effect on the amount of work Siege Editor requires from the video card. If you are having trouble running Siege Editor with a lower end video card, lowering resolution settings may aid performance.
  28.     o 512M RAM recommended. NOTE - it is possible to run Siege Editor with as little as 256MB RAM, but speed and capacity for region size are greatly reduced.
  29.     o A mouse with a middle button or scrolling wheel is not required, but is highly recommended as it is needed to function with the default settings.

  31. Siege Max and DS Anim Viewer Minimum System requirements:

  33.     o Dungeon Siege version 1.1 or greater is required.
  34.     o Siege Editor version 1.10.0.327 or greater (included).
  35.     o Siege Max requires the free download of the gmax(tm) software from Discreet: http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/gmax_index.html

  40.     o Intel« or AMD processor at 300 MHz
  41.     o 128MB RAM and 300MB swap space
  42.     o Graphics card supporting 1024 x 768 x 16-bit color (OpenGL and Direct3D hardware acceleration supported)

  44.     o CD-ROM drive (To install your favorite gmax enabled games!)

  48. C.    Installer Information
  49. To install the Dungeon Siege Tool Kit, double click the installer icon and follow the installation instructions. The default install directory for the DSTK files is C:\Program Files\Dungeon Siege Tool Kit. To uninstall the DSTK, go to the Start menu, then Programs\Dungeon Siege Tool Kit and click on Dungeon Siege Tool Kit Uninstall. Follow the instructions to remove the DSTK from you computer.

  51. D.    Running the Software
  52. To run the tools, click on the appropriate icon located in the Start Menu under Programs\Dungeon Siege Tool Kit. In this folder we've also included a shortcut to the DSMod.exe. The DSMod is a special executable of Dungeon Siege used to help you debug your game modifications or to more easily see any content created using Siege Max or the Siege Editor. Note: In the Target area of the DSMod shortcut, we've added the lines "fullscreen=false" and "home=xx" (where "xx" is your default Dungeon Siege install directory). See the Dungeon Siege ReadMe for more information and a list of Target Commands for Dungeon Siege.

  55. For full documentation, go to the Start menu, Programs\Dungeon Siege Tool Kit and click on either the Siege Editor Manual or Siege Max Manual shortcuts.  Context sensitive help can be accessed by pressing the F1 key at any time while running a DSTK tool.
