with the necessary files.
*Double-Click the EMD.EXE file to start playing.
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS:
Pentium 90 or higher
Windows 95
8MB RAM
2X CD-ROM drive
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you have a computer with two or more CD-ROM drives, you should only run the game
from the drive that you used to install the program.
If you are using an Aptiva(TM) machine equipped with the MWAVE sound card and you
cannot run the program, please contact IBM to receive the PHATFIX.EXE MWAVE sound card
patch for Sierra(TM) games.
If you are experiencing graphic problems:
1) Eat My Dust uses Microsoft DirectX version 2. Please contact your video card
manufacturer for the newest video driver that supports DirectX version 2.
2) Close all windows, toolbars, and background utilities (i.e. WC Clock).
3) Set the number of colors to be displayed to 256. Some color cards (especially
Cirrus Logic or Trident video cards) may require colors to be set at 65,536;
65,535; 64K; or 65K, depending on the vendor. (Refer to your Windows guide on
Running the Setup Program or Setting Up Windows.) If you still encounter a
problem, try changing your video configuration to Microsoft's generic SVGA
640x480 256-color mode.
NOTE: For your convenience, a list of video card manufacturers can be found under
"Support" on the Sierra install menu.
PERFORMANCE
To improve demo performance please try the following...
Before launching the Eat My Dust demo:
1) Make sure that all windows, toolbars, and background utilities (i.e. WC Clock)
are closed.
2) Turn OFF any virus-scanning programs and screen savers that might be running.
3) Close ALL other applications. If you are running an alternative desktop, leave
only your desktop program running. NOTE: Some alternative desktops may not be
compatible.
While running the Eat My Dust demo:
1) Check "Force Low Memory Environment" on the Options screen.
2) Uncheck "Music CD On" on the Options screen.
3) Select "Low" or "Ultra Low" detail level on the Options screen.
4) Check Engine Sound volume "Off" on the Options screen.
5) Uncheck "Character Sounds On" on the Options screen.
DRIVING HINTS
If you get stuck in a wall or on an object, use the Reverse function to back out,
then continue driving.
If you get lost off track or cannot free your car from an object using Reverse, hit
the "Home" key on your keyboard; this returns your car to the Start line but erases
all the laps you have completed so far. Your opponents will not be returned to Start
and will not lose laps. Use "Home" for emergencies only.
