MicroChess 1.1 is a chess program for the Palm Computing« platform that is played on a 5 by 6 board. The games are short and the openings are fresh and interesting.
This variation of chess is based on a version called Petty Chess (or Petite Chess) which was invented by B. Walker Watson in 1930.
The rules of the game are the same as chess except for the following.
Pawns can only advance one space on their first move.
A pawn can only promote to a captured piece.
There is no castling.
MicroChess requires Palm OS 2.0 or greater and requires a Palm Professional, Palm III, Palm IIIe, Palm IIIx, Palm IIIxe, Palm IIIc, Palm V, Palm Vx, or Palm VII.
The unregistered version allows playing with all features for 21 days of use.
