  20. A) Properties of the Driver
  21. ===========================
  22.    This driver supports the following resolutions and color depth in the
  23.    OS/2 Workplace Shell:
  24.       640 * 480  * 256 Farben
  25.       800 * 600  * 256 Farben
  26.      1024 * 768  * 256 Farben
  27.      1152 * 870  * 256 Farben
  28.      1280 * 1024 * 256 Farben
  29.      1600 * 1280 * 256 Farben 
  30.       640 * 480  * 64k Farben
  31.       800 * 600  * 64k Farben
  32.      1024 * 768  * 64k Farben
  33.      1280 * 1024 * 64k Farben 
  34.       640 * 480  * 16M Farben
  35.       800 * 600  * 16M Farben
  36.      1024 * 768  * 16M Farben

  38.    The BigWin driver can be installed in the Windows Session in all available
  39.    resolutions and also with color depth higher than 256 colors.
  40.    Also if the BigWin is configured in another resolution than the OS/2
  41.    environment it is possible to switch between both surfaces without
  42.    any problems.

  44. C) Requirements for Installation
  45. ================================
  46.    OS/2 has to be installed and runs with standard VGA driver or and older
  47.    BigBlue driver with the SPEA FIRE GL board in the OS/2 environment as
  48.    well.
  49.    Note: You need the SPEA FIRE GL "Drivers for Windows" Disk for the
  50.    installation.

  53. D) Installation of the OS/2 Drivers
  54. ===================================
  55. 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
  56.    Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy a name this disk "SPEA FIRE GL
  57.    BigBlue".
  58.    A disk label is NOT necessary any longer.
  59.  
  60. 2. Start OS/2.
  61.    Important: before beginning the installation shut down any running
  62.    OS/2 and Windows programs!
  63.    Open a fullscreen session or an OS/2 window. Put the disk labelled
  64.    "SPEA FIRE GL BigBlue" in drive A: and enter:
  65.       A:\V7SETOS2
  66.    Follow the instructions on the screen and if unsure at any point,
  67.    call the online help.

  69.    After terminating the program and restarting OS/2 you have access to
  70.    the OS/2 desktop and seamless Windows with the BigBlue driver and
  71.    to Windows via the BigWin driver in the resolution and color depth
  72.    that you selected.

  75. E) Changing the resolution under OS/2 or Win-OS/2
  76. =================================================
  77. After you have installed BigBlue a new folder named "SPEA/V7" will be
  78. created on your desktop with the V7SETOS2 program icon. After starting
  79. this program you can change the resolution or color depth before restarting
  80. your system to initialize the changes.

  82. Note the following if you wish to use a different resolution under Win-OS/2
  83. as opposed to the OS/2 desktop.
  84. 1. Deactivate the checkbox 'Use settings in Win-OS/2 fullscreen session'.
  85. 2. Start Win-OS/2. Select the options 'File' and 'Run' in the Program
  86.    Manager. Then enter V7SETUP' without a path or drive. After starting
  87.    the program make the changes for your Win-OS/2 session in the same
  88.    way as under V7SETOS2.

  90.    Note: V7SETUP for Windows can't be started as a seamless window
  91.    application.

  93. F) Known Restrictions
  94. =====================
  95. Videoplayer:
  96.    If you change to a fullscreen session whilst running a video then text
  97.    will be displayed in black on blak. Switching from digital video to
  98.    fullscreen windows can cause the system to crash.
  99.  
  100. SPtune:
  101.    User modes (tuned modes) are currently not supported. They are not shown
  102.    in V7SETOS2 but are used and running if set under SPtune.

  104. SPEAview:
  105.    SPEAview should not be used under Win-OS2.
