  19. 1) About BigFocus and 3D-World
  20. ==============================

  22. (a) BigFocus
  23.  
  24. BigFocus is SPEA's extended function DLD driver for
  25. - AutoCAD 12 and 13 (DOS)
  26.  
  27. The BigFocus driver for DOS contains 3D functionality and therefore
  28. offers you a 3D-Viewer trial feature (you can use this feature for about 3
  29. minutes) with each BigFocus installation. If you are interested in
  30. purchasing the full version then please refer to your distributor and
  31. ask him for the 'SPEA 3D-World' product.

  35. This software package also includes the following:

  37. - a 3D-Viewer for AutoCAD 12/13 DOS
  38. - a 3D-Viewer for AutoCAD for Windows (3D-Win)

  40. - an Animation Previewer for 3D Studio

  44.   This driver supports the following boards:
  45.   V7-MIRAGE P-64 VL/PCI (2 MB),
  46.   V7-MIRAGE P-64 V PCI (2 MB),
  47.   V7-MERCURY ISA/VL/PCI,
  48.   V7-MERCURY PRO ISA/VL,
  49.   V7-MERCURY P-64 VL/PCI,
  50.   V7-MERCURY P-64 V PCI und 
  51.   SPEA FIRE GL PCI.
  52.  
  53.   Monitor Type
  54.   ------------
  55.   This version of BigFocus is exclusively for use with multiscan
  56.   monitors.
  57.   If you own a fixed-frequency monitor from the SPEA GDM 1950 or 1963
  58.   series then you will need a special BigFocus driver: contact your
  59.   retailer and ask for the 'V7 SyncFix' package.
  60.  
  61. 3) What's new?
  62. ===============
  63.  
  64.   - Online help
  65.     The online help for AutoCAD 12 (DOS) has been revised with
  66.     information concerning the latest changes. The online help for
  67.     AutoCAD 13 (DOS) has also been created and updated.
  68.  
  69.   - New: Fit button in the Birds-Eye View window (BEV)
  70.     This button shows the exact location in the BEV, even if a very small
  71.     zoom area has been selected with the mouse. A click on the BEV returns
  72.     to the original view. Check the online help for details!
  73.  
  74.   - DOS:
  75.     Text window display output has been accelerated (up to 50%)
  76.  
  77.   - Antialiasing
  78.     This function is currently not available.
  79.  
  80.   - New: #LIST
  81.     This command can be seen as an extension of the AutoCAD _LIST
  82.     command. When called it executes _LIST and subsequently _GRAPHSCR.
  83.     This enables you to automatically return to the drawing after using
  84.     the _LIST command in the text window.
  85.  
  86.   - V3DSETUP, the configuration dialogue for the 3D-Viewer has been
  87.     fitted with various new options (3DS reading modes and parameters).
  88.     Check the online help for more details.

  90.   - AutoCAD command 'MULTIPLE'
  91.     Not a new feature, but a common cause of problems which is often
  92.     overseen. If you use the AutoCAD MULTIPLE command do NOT move or
  93.     use any of the SPEA icon menus unil you have completed the AutoCAD
  94.     command! Doing so may cause your system to hang (for reasons which
  95.     SPEA has no influence over).

  97.   - SPEACONFIG (Hotkey)
  98.     Doubleclick assignments (mouse) are no longer supported!
  99.  
  100.   - Dual screen configurations with SPEA V7 boards: as of now, SPEA
  101.     supplies two 'SPEA DoubleScreen' packages:
  102.     (a) SPEA DoubleScreen DOS/Win
  103.     (b) SPEA DoubleScreen DOS
  104.  
  105.     Package (a) contains two V7-MERCURY P-64 boards and the software
  106.     necessary to run this combination under AutoCAD DOS/Windows, Windows
  107.     and MicroStation.

  109.     Package (b) contains a V7-STORM PRO and a V7-MIRAGE P-64 as well as
  110.     the software necessary to run this combination under AutoCAD DOS and
  111.     MicroStation.

  114. 4) Installing BigFocus for DOS:
  115. ===============================
  116.   1. Put the disk 'BigFocus' in drive A: and enter:
  117.         A:
  118.         INSTALL
  119.      According to whether you are using the Rel. 12 or 13 version of
  120.      AutoCAD make your selection and follow the instructions on the screen.
  121.  
  122.   2. At the end of the installation a file named RCSETUP.BAT is created in
  123.      your SPEA\GDC directory. This file sets the necessary environment
  124.      variable (SPEAPOP) needed by the BigFocus tools.
  125.      Call RCSETUP.BAT before you reconfigure AutoCAD itself.
  126.  
  127.   3. Start AutoCAD again and select the following driver when choosing
  128.      the display driver:

  130.          SPEA S3 3D ADI 4.2 Display/Rendering - by SPEA AG
  131.  
  132.     NOTE (see also: RCSETUP.BAT):
  133.     If you have installed a dual screen configuration, then you can use the
  134.     following environment variables to determine which board controls the
  135.     AutoCAD main screen:
  136.  
  137.          SET SWAPBOARDS=ON  AutoCAD starts on the primary board
  138.          SET SWAPBOARDS=OFF AutoCAD starts on the secondary board
  139.  
  140.     If you are using 2 SPEA boards and SWAPBOARDS=OFF is set, then
  141.     you can use an environment variable to force the primary board to
  142.     always work as a text screen, whilst the secondary board always shows
  143.     the AutoCAD desktop. To do this make the following entry in the
  144.     RCSETUP.BAT file:
  145.  
  146.         SET DUALSCREEN=OFF
  147.  
  148.     If you have already installed a version of BigFocus and are using
  149.     this installation as an update, then the position of the SPEA icons
  150.     will be different to the last position saved when you restart AutoCAD.
  151.  
  152. 5)  Notes concerning your manual
  153. ================================
  154. Please note that the manual included with this software only describes
  155. the DOS version of BigFocus 12. Note that the Tutor window is no longer
  156. available!
  157.  
  158. NOTE: Before you configure your digitizer please enter on the command line:
  159.         #logo_off
  160.       and after configuration
  161.         #logo_on
  162.       to avoid conflicts with BigFocus.
  163.
