  14.    This file contains additional information about the CD-ROM drive 
  15.    installation software that was not available at printing time.

  18.    General Information
  19.    ===================
  20.  
  21.    Standard IDE supports up to a maximum of two IDE interfaces.  Each IDE
  22.    interface can support up to a maximum of two devices, i.e. either 2 hard
  23.    disks, 2 CD-ROM drives or a combination of 1 hard disk & 1 CD-ROM drive. 
  24.    The port address for Primary & Secondary IDE interface is at 1F0H & 170H
  25.    respectively.  
  26.  
  27.    Primary IDE interface refers to the interface (at 1F0H) on your system 
  28.    where the IDE hard disk is connected (it can be built-in on the system 
  29.    motherboard or on a separate I/O card).  Secondary IDE interface (at 170H) 
  30.    refers to the IDE interface on a separate interface card (e.g. the 
  31.    interface card bundled with this CD-ROM drive, on-board Secondary IDE 
  32.    interface or the interface on the sound card).

  35.    CD-ROM Drive Configuration
  36.    ==========================

  38.    Please note that the IDE CD-ROM drive is factory configured to Single/Slave 
  39.    drive setting.  Therefore, the following points are to be observed during 
  40.    the installation of the CD-ROM drive :
  41.  
  42.    1.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive directly to the provided 
  43.        interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface, 
  44.        no jumper setting is required on either the CD-ROM or hard disk drive.
  45.        If the on-board Secondary IDE interface has a hard disk connected, 
  46.        ensure that it is configured to Master drive setting.  Please refer
  47.        to your hard disk reference manual for more information.

  49.    2.) If your Sound Card has an IDE interface, please install the CD-ROM 
  50.        drive through the interface on the sound card.  Please ensure that the 
  51.        jumper setting on the sound card is properly configured to IDE CD-ROM 
  52.        interface.  For more information, refer to your sound card user's
  53.        manual.

  55.    3.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive and the hard disk together 
  56.        through the on-board Primary IDE interface, 
  57.  
  58.        a.) Please ensure that your hard disk is configured to Master drive 
  59.            setting.  For more information, please refer to your hard disk 
  60.            reference manual.

  62.        b.) Please also make sure that the following statement is in the 
  63.            [386Enh] section in the SYSTEM.INI file under WINDOWS directory.

  68.    4.) If you are connecting two CD-ROM drives directly to the provided 
  69.        interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface,

  72.        for more information on how to configure the drives.

  83.    In dieser Datei finden Sie zusätzliche Informationen zur CD-ROM Laufwerk
  84.    Installationssoftware, die bei Drucklegung nicht verfügbar war.

  87.    Allgemeine Informationen
  88.    ========================
  89.  
  90.    Standard IDE unterstützt maximal zwei IDE Schnittstellen. An jeder IDE
  91.    Schnittstelle können maximal zwei Geräte angeschlossen sein, z.B. zwei
  92.    Festplattem zwei CD-ROM Laufwerke oder eine Kombination aus einer 
  93.    Festplatte und einem CD-ROM Laufwerk. Die Portadresse für ein primäres IDE 
  94.    Interface ist 1F0H und für ein sekundäres IDE Interface 170H.
  95.  
  96.    Das primäre IDE Interface ist der Anschluß (bei Adresse 1F0H), an dem Ihre
  97.    Festplatte(n) angeschlossen ist. Es kann auf dem Mainboard oder auf einer
  98.    Controllerkarte eingebaut sein. Ein sekundäres IDE Interface (bei Adresse
  99.    170H) ist dann in Ihrem System vorhanden, wenn Sie in Ihrem System vier
  100.    AT-Bus Festplatten installieren können. Sie finden es dann ebenfalls auf 
  101.    dem Mainboard oder auf der Controllerkarte. Ein zusätzliches sekundäres IDE
  102.    Interface kann auch das auf bestimmten Soundkarten (z.B. Aztech WaveRider 
  103.    32+) eingebaute sekundäre IDE Interface oder das auf der optionalen 
  104.    Schnittstellenkarte zum IDE CD-ROM Laufwerk enthaltene Interface sein.

  107.    CD-ROM Laufwerk Konfiguration
  108.    =============================
  109.  
  110.    Beachten Sie bitte, daß das IDE CD-ROM Laufwerk ab Werk als Single/Slave 
  111.    Laufwerk konfiguriert ist. Bei der Installation dieses Laufwerks müssen 
  112.    folgende Punkte beachtet werden:
  113.  
  114.    1.) Wenn Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk direkt an der optionalen Interfacekarte
  115.        von Aztech oder an einem anderen sekundären Interface in Ihrem PC
  116.        anschließen, so brauchen keine Jumper verändert zu werden. Wenn am
  117.        sekundären IDE Interface in Ihrem System bereits eine Festplatte
  118.        installiert ist, muß diese als Master konfiguriert sein. Die korrekte
  119.        Jumpereinstellung entnehmen Sie bitte der Anleitung Ihrer Festplatte.
  120.         
  121.    2.) Wenn an Ihrer Soundkarte ein IDE Interface vorhanden ist, schließen
  122.        Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk bitte dort an. Stellen Sie sicher, daß mit
  123.        dem Jumper auf der Soundkarte die IDE Schnittstelle eingeschaltet
  124.        ist. Weitere Hinweise finden Sie im Soundkartenhandbuch.

  126.    3.) Wenn Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk zusammen mit einer Festplatte an einem
  127.        primären IDE Interface in Ihrem System anschließen wollen, dann
  128.        beachten Sie folgende zwei Punkte:
  129.        
  130.        a)      Stellen Sie sicher, daß die (einzige) Festplatte als Master
  131.                konfiguriert ist. Die korrekte Jumpereinstellung entnehmen
  132.                Sie bitte der Anleitung Ihrer Festplatte.
  133.        
  134.        b)      Stellen Sie auch sicher, daß die folgende Zeile im Abschnitt
  135.                [386Enh] der SYSTEM.INI Datei im WINDOWS Verzeichnis steht:

  140.    4.) Wenn Sie zwei IDE CD-ROM Laufwerke an einem vorhandenen sekundären
  141.        IDE Interface in Ihrem System anschließen wollen, so muß das eine
  142.        CD-ROM Laufwerk als Master umkonfiguriert werden, während das andere
  143.        weiter als Slave konfiguriert bleibt. Informationen zu diesem Thema
  144.        finden Sie in Ihrem CD-ROM Handbuch.

  146.        In diesem Fall kopieren Sie die Zeile DEVICE=(Pfad)SGIDECD.SYS...
  147.        in der Datei CONFIG.SYS und editieren die zweite Zeile, so daß die
  148.        Namen der Laufwerke unterschiedlich sind. Die Zeilen können dann 
  149.        z.B. so aussehen:
  150.

  152.        DEVICE=C:\WR32\DRIVERS\SGIDECD.SYS /D:MSCD001
  153.        DEVICE=C:\WR32\DRIVERS\SGIDECD.SYS /D:MSCD002

  155.        Editieren Sie dann die Zeile mit dem Aufruf von MSCDEX.EXE in der
  156.        Startdatei AUTOEXEC.BAT folgendermaßen:
  157.          
  158.        (Autoexec.bat)
  159.        C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /D:MSCD002
  160.         
  161.        Hier reicht also eine Zeile, in der beide Namen genannt werden. Der 
  162.        Pfad C:\DOS ist hier nur ein Beispiel und kann in Ihrer Autoexec.bat 
  163.        Datei anders lauten. Auch können weitere Parameter folgen. Lassen Sie
  164.        diese, wie sie sind, fügen Sie lediglich  /D:MSCD002  zusätzlich ein.
