  45. This version of M64VBE supports VESA VBE 2.0. 
  46.  
  47. The VESA modes supported by your mach64 card are dependent upon the  
  48. amount of video memory and the monitor type selected in the ADVANCED or  
  49. QUICK SETUP of the INSTALL program.

  51. To determine the modes supported by your current configuration run 
  52. VESATEST.

  58. If you experience any problems with applications that use VESA modes,   
  59. install and run the ATI mach64 Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) VESA   
  60. program M64VBE.COM.  
  61.  
  62. The default settings for M64VBE.COM are: 
  63.  
  64. - dual read and write windows enabled 
  65. - 320 modes enabled 
  66. - Memory aperture on 
  67. - VGA CRT parameters enabled 
  68. - Display start address divided by 4 
  69.  
  70. To un-install the mach64 VESA TSR Change directory to c:\mach64  
  71. (default) and type M64VBE U <enter>.

  73. Note: If you experience any problems unloading the TSR please consult  
  74. your DOS documentation for TSR un-install limitations.

  80. If your VESA application continues to experience display problems after  
  81. loading M64VBE.COM, you should consult the application's documentation  
  82. for specific requirements.  If the documentation indicates that it  
  83. requires VGA paging (aperture off), single read and write windows or 
  84. accelerator CRT parameters you must use the appropriate, Advanced M64VBE 
  85. switches listed below.

  87. Syntax:  M64VBE sw1 sw2... (where sw# represents a valid M64VBE switch)

  89. M64VBE SWITCHES:

  91. u           - remove M64VBE from memory 
  92. s           - enable single read and write window 
  93. d           - enable dual read and write windows (default) 
  94. -3          - disable 320x200 & 320x240 support 
  95. 3           - enable 320x200 & 320x240 support (default) 
  96. vw          - set memory aperture to off 
  97. -vw         - set memory aperture to on (default) 
  98. acc         - use accelerated CRT parameters 
  99. vga         - use standard VGA CRT parameters (default) 
  100. 4           - display start address divided by 4 
  101. -4          - display start address not divided by 4 (default)

  106. 4.0     Known Issues and Solutions 
  107.  
  108. VESA 2.0 COMPATIBILITY ISSUES 
  109. If the VESA mode is not available or your application simply requires 
  110. VBE 2.0 compatibility to run better or the application is experiencing 
  111. problems like 1/4 screen, wrap around and general corruption, use 
  112. M64VBE with accelerator CRT and display start address divided by 4. 
  113.

  115.         DUKE NUKEM 3D by 3D REALMS ENTERTAINMENT 
  116.         FLIGHT UNLIMITED by LOOKING GLASS SOFTWARE

  121. MOUSE CURSOR PROBLEMS 
  122. If you are experiencing mouse pointer trails or any problem associated  
  123. with a pointing device, the VESA application may require a single read  
  124. and write window. To correct this problem, use M64VBE with the single  
  125. window implementation enabled.

  128.     OPERATION CRUSADER by AVALON HILL 
  129.     WORD PERFECT TUTORIAL by LEARNKEY, INC.

  131. syntax: M64VBE S 
  132.  
  133.  
  134. 1/4 OF THE IMAGE VISIBLE 
  135. If the VESA application only displays in the upper 1/4 of the screen the  
  136. application may be assuming that the mach64 is a VGA Wonder compatible  
  137. card.  To correct this problem use M64VBE with the set memory aperture to off 
  138. and VGA CRT parameters.

  141.     AIR WARRIOR by KESMAI 
  142.     THE GRANDEST FLEET by QUANTUM QUALITY PRODUCTIONS 
  143.     FXDRAW by ROBOCFG

  148. BLACK SCREENS OR SYSTEM HANGS 
  149. If starting the VESA application causes a black display or locks the  
  150. system, the application may not be compatible with Accelerated CRT  
  151. parameters. To correct this problem use M64VBE with the standard VGA CRT  
  152. parameters enabled.

  163. MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 5.1 Fatal Error 
  164. For the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO, WINTURBO, GRAPHICS XPRESSION and WINBOOST 
  165. you must configure FLIGHT SIMULATOR for the ATI 18800/28800 display 
  166. driver.

  168. MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 5.1 quarter screen display 
  169. For the VIDEO XPRESSION and the 3D XPRESSION, you must configure 
  170. FLIGHT SIMULATOR for the VESA 1.2 display driver and run M64VBE with 
  171. single read and write window.
