  60. The BBS Utility package provides the following functions:
  61.  
  62.     - It contains an option for configuring the mach64 hardware
  63.     - It contains an option for testing the VGA, VESA and Accelerator 
  64. portion of the card
  65.     - It contains an option to install the ATI mach64 utilities
  66.  
  67. It is important to note that the BBS Utility package does not support
  68. mach64 driver installation.  For this reason we would recommend 
  69. retaining your existing mach64 diskettes for driver installation or 
  70. downloading the appropriate drivers from the ATI BBS, CompuServe forum 
  71. or FTP site.

  76. 2.0     Installation Notes
  77.

  79. 1. Ensure that you have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE 2.04G.  PKUNZIP is 
  80. available on most BBS and information services, including the ATI 
  81. BBS and CompuServe.

  83. 2. Unzip 64UTL222.ZIP into a new directory on your hard disk.  For 
  84. example:
  85.  
  86. MD \ATIBBS
  87. PKUNZIP 64UTL222.ZIP \ATIBBS
  88. CD \ATIBBS
  89. INSTALL

  91. 3. Follow the screen prompts for installing the Utilities and 
  92. configuring the card.

  97. 3.0     mach64 2.22 BBS Install options
  98.

  100. 1) System Information
  101.  
  102. Detailed system information will be presented, together with any found 
  103. system conflicts.
  104.  
  105. Contents of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS will be shown, and an option 
  106. to save to file or send to printer will be given.
  107.  
  108. It is recommended that this check is done first, prior to doing the
  109. 'Quick Setup'.
  110.  
  111.  
  112. 2) Quick Setup
  113.  
  114. Quick Setup will automatically initialize your card for the best 
  115. possible configuration. 
  116.   
  117. You do, however, have the choice of selecting the monitor type, from 
  118. the list of available monitors.  If the monitor you are currently 
  119. using is not in the monitor list, you may  want to use the Custom 
  120. Monitor option for best possible screen size and  position for each 
  121. resolution your monitor supports.
  122.  
  123. 3) Adapter Utilities Installation.
  124.  
  125. This option allows you to install the Video Adapter Utilities onto the 
  126. hard drive.  The ATI utilities includes a DOS DPMS Terminate and Stay 
  127. Resident (TSR) and a VESA TSR program for VESA compliant applications. 
  128. For more information on either of these TSR please consult the 
  129. appropriate README file.

  131. Upon completion, you will be asked if you wish to set the path to the
  132. directory containing the utilities.

  135. 4) Diagnostics
  136.  
  137. You can test the functionality of your graphics adapter using this 
  138. option. The following diagnostics are performed to thoroughly test the 
  139. VGA and/or the Accelerator portion of your graphics adapter.

  142.   *  VGA Text test
  143.   *  VGA Standard graphics test
  144.   *  Accelerator Diagnostics

  147. 5) Advanced Setup
  148.  
  149. This is designed for experienced users who wish to custom-tailor their 
  150. card configuration for best possible performance. Changes will be 
  151. saved in a non-volatile memory or a file, depending on the mach64 
  152. configuration, and the card will be re-initialized.  Once saved, 
  153. settings will remain unchanged until altered.
