  33. Radmin is a remote control program that lets you work on another 
  34. computer remotely through your own. You see the remote computer's 
  35. screen in a resizable window on your own monitor or as the full 
  36. screen. Your mouse and keyboard control the remote computer so you 
  37. can work on the remote computer just as if you were sitting right at 
  38. it.
  39.  
  40. The remote computer can be anywhere on the Internet or in your local 
  41. network. You don't need a fast network connection. Even with a MODEM 
  42. the screen update speed is an acceptable 5-10 screen updates per 
  43. second. If the remote computer is on your LOCAL NETWORK the typical 
  44. speed is from 100 to 500 screen updates per second.

  46. Often while working in Radmin's full-screen mode, you forget that you 
  47. are working on a REMOTE computer! 
  48.  
  49. Radmin consists of two parts:
  50.  
  51. * The server on the remote computer that sends the remote 
  52.   computer's screen display.
  53. * The client - also called the viewer - that shows the remote screen 
  54.   display on your own monitor.
  55.  
  56. To get started you need to run Radmin server on the remote computer. 
  57. Then run Radmin client on your own computer. The current version of 
  58. Radmin requires a TCP/IP connection between both computers, so you'll 
  59. need to set this up if they are not already connected.

  62.  What makes it different from other systems?
  63. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  65. Radmin outperforms all other remote control software in speed,
  66. security and usability.
  67.  
  68. Speed:     Radmin is the fastest remote control software available.
  69.            It is optimized for low-bandwidth connections such as
  70.            modems. Connecting via modem, screen refreshment rate
  71.            reaches 5-10 updates per second. If connected to a LAN you
  72.            can work on remote computer with real-time speed, reaching
  73.            over 100 screen updates per second.

  75. Security   is a critical consideration when implementing the remote
  76.            control software. To maintain the security of data and
  77.            corporate network resources, Radmin supports the existing
  78.            level of environment security and provide its own level
  79.            as well. Radmin offers the highest levels of encryption
  80.            available in its category.

  82. Usability: Radmin simple interface is devoid of useless
  83.            'value added features' that bloat software and make it
  84.            hard to work with. Radmin is extremely easy to learn
  85.            and use.

  91. Run as a Service
  92. Radmin server can work as a SERVICE under Win9x, ME, NT4.0, Win2000
  93. and Winsows XP. This lets you log a user on or off remotely.
  94. NOTE: If Radmin server is started on Windows XP, the "Switch User"
  95.       feature cannot be used.

  97. Multiple Connections Support
  98. Radmin server supports simultaneous multiple connections to the same 
  99. remote screen.

  101. Full-Screen, Scaled and Windowed View Modes
  102. Full-screen mode shows the remote screen full-size on your own monitor
  103. Scaled mode lets you see the remote screen in a window on your monitor 
  104. scaled to the remote screen's defined size.

  106. Video Hook Driver Technology is Used
  107. Radmin uses video hook kernel mode drivers under Windows NT to capture 
  108. screen changes. This boosts the speed to hundreds of screen updates
  109. per second.
  110.  
  111. File Transfer
  112. Current version lets you transfer files (less than 2Gb) between
  113. computers  with Windows Explorer like interface.

  115. Remote Shutdown
  116. Now you don't have to connect in the Full Control mode.
  117.  
  118. Telnet Server
  119. Radmin server provides Telnet access to remote computers (except on 
  120. Win9x).

  122. Windows NT Security Support
  123. You can allow remote control, remote view, telnet and file transfer 
  124. access to specific users or user groups from an NT domain. If a user 
  125. logged into a WinNT domain connects to Radmin server, the user's 
  126. current username/password are employed by Radmin viewer to authorize 
  127. a connection to the Radmin server.

  129. Password Protection
  130. If Windows NT security support is switched off, access to a remote 
  131. computer is controlled by a password. Radmin uses a challenge-response 
  132. password authentication method based on 128 bit strong encryption.

  135. In the version 2.2 encryption is always enabled, it causes just 5% 
  136. performance loss.

  138. IP Filter
  139. Allows an access to the Radmin server only from specified IP addresses 
  140. and subnets.

  142. Radmin Supports High-Resolution Modes
  143. Display resolutions up to 2048 X 2048 X 32 bit color are supported by 
  144. Radmin.

  147.  System requirements.

  150. No special requirements for hardware.
  151. Required software is Windows 95/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP with TCP/IP
  152. protocol installed.
  153.  
  154. NOTE: If Radmin server is started on Windows XP, the "Switch User"
  155.       feature cannot be used.

  157. NOTE: Radmin still operates successfully when the display, mouse and 
  158.       keyboard are disconnected from the remote computer, however some 
  159.       computers do not boot successfully without a keyboard
  160.       plugged in.
  161.  
  162. For All Operating Systems (Win9x/ME/NT/2000/XP):
  163. The computer must have TCP/IP installed, the most-used protocol for 
  164. networking computers.
  165.  
  166. Windows NT 4.0:
  167. Service pack 4 or higher is required.

  170.  Installation.

  173. Two computers need to be connected by TPC/IP, either on a local network 
  174. or the Internet. 
  175. Radmin must be installed on each computer.

  178. Uninstall any earlier version of Radmin, before installing a newer 
  179. version.

  188. * You need administrator rights to install Radmin Server as a service.

  193.   and install the driver.
  194. * Before installing Radmin's video hook driver be sure that any other
  195.   Remote Control software that uses video hook driver technology has
  196.   been removed. Running more than one video hook driver can lead to a
  197.   system crash while booting. Sample applications that use a video
  198.   hook driver: NetMeeting 3.0+, SMS, Timbuktu. If a problem occurs
  199.   while booting with the Radmin driver, you can press the
  200.   '1' (number one) key repeatedly during booting and the Radmin
  201.   driver will not load.

  204. Limitations
  205. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  207. Radmin file transfer feature supports files up to 2Gb and folders
  208. with up to 20,000 files. 
  209.  
  210. Radmin may fail to operate correctly together with some applications 
  211. causing high CPU usage, also with some specific antiviral software and 
  212. firewalls. The product may be not compatible with some particular 
  213. models of hardware, such as routers.

  216. Radmin Security

  219. A lot of attention was paid to security issues in the Radmin design
  220. from the outset. Here are some reasons that Radmin's operations are
  221. completely secure:
  222.  
  223. * Radmin 2.2 supports Windows NT/2000/XP user level security. You can
  224.   allow remote control to specific users or user groups.
  225. * If Windows NT security support is switched off, access to a remote
  226.   computer is restricted by password. Remote Administrator uses a
  227.   challenge-response password authentication method (MD5 and Twofish
  228.   crypto algorithms are used). This method is similar to the
  229.   authentication method used in Windows NT, but uses more powerful
  230.   security keys. 
  231. * Radmin works in encrypted mode, where all data, including screen
  232.   images, mouse movements and keypresses are encrypted. 128 bit
  233.   Twofish encryption is used. Twofish crypto is distinguished for its
  234.   combination of speed, flexibility and conservative design.
  235. * Radmin server has a logging feature. All actions are written to
  236.   the log file. Event Log support is also included.
  237. * Radmin server has an IP filter table that restricts remote access
  238.   to IP addresses and networks you specify.
  239. * Radmin has a self testing code defence that protects the code from
  240.   being altered.
