  8. This file describes the software requirements to install the
  9. WebExplorer V1.1h World Wide Web browser on your workstation.

  16.  - TCP/IP Version 3.0 for OS/2 (included with OS/2 Warp Connect) or

  18.    applied and APAR fix PN 71501)

  34. This file contains instructions on how to install these fixes for
  35. WebExplorer and a list of the APARs that have been fixed.
  36.  
  37. The executable provided is a self-extracting zip file.  Run the executable,
  38. specifying the directory where you want the files to be unpacked to.
  39. For example:
  40.    WEBXV11H.EXE D:\UNZIP
  41. would unpack the WEBXV11H.EXE packed file to D:\UNZIP directory.
  42.  
  43. After unpacking, you should have the following files:
  44. - either explore.bmp, if you have the non-secure version,
  45.       or secexp.bmp,  if you have the secure US version,
  46.       or expexp.bmp,  if you have the secure export version.

  60. This version is a total replacement of WebExplorer code.  To install:
  61. 1- Make backup copies of the following existing files (note:  depending
  62.    on which version of WebExplorer that you are running, some of the
  63.    files may not exist):
  64.  
  65.     /bin/explore.exe     (if you have the non-secure version)
  66.     /bin/swebex.exe      (if you have the secure version)
  67.     /bin/explore.ico
  68.     /bin/viewstrt.exe
  69.     /dll/webexurl.dll
  70.     /dll/webexwin.dll
  71.     /help/explore.hlp
  72.     /help/webexurl.hlp
  73.     /help/webng.htm

  75. 2- Change to the directory where the self-extracting zip file was unpacked
  76.    to.

  78. 3- Type
  79.      install
  80.    and press Enter.

  82. 4- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

  84.    NOTE:  Please note that the window in which all the default target
  85.    directories are listed is scrollable. If you do not want to take the
  86.    default directories, you will need to scroll the window down to reach
  87.    the entries at the bottom of the list.

  90. previous version since the fixes are cumulative.

  93. WebExplorer V1.1h (12/11/96):

  95. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  97. IC15320 - Can't access pages that have a blank content type in the header.
  98.  
  99. IC15657 - WebExplorer v1.1f broke form button display of some accented
  100.       characters.
  101.  
  102. IC15756 - Some colors display incorrectly since WebExplorer v1.1f.
  103.  
  104. IC15772 - Installing WebExplorer gives message indicating that the current 
  105.           service level is already installed, when it's not.
  106.  
  107. IC15876 - WebExplorer doubles the number of blank lines displayed in a form
  108.       field.
  109.  
  110. PN91444 - HTTPS requests and other security functions cause Secure WebExplorer
  111.           to trap.  This can occur in certain situations when Internet 
  112.           Connection Secure Server is installed on the same machine as Secure 
  113.           WebExplorer.

  115. NOTE: Starting with 1.1h, WebExplorer should be started with -p option (to 
  116.       enable color palette management) if "Workplace shell palette aware" is 
  117.       enabled in OS/2 System Settings.

  120. WebExplorer V1.1g (11/07/96):

  122. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  124. IC12830 - WebExplorer is misinterpreting URLs with DBCS characters.
  125.  
  126. IC13213 - WebExplorer is not given the correct color palette when focus
  127.           is switched with WorkPlace Shell palette aware "ON".
  128.  
  129. IC14486 - WebExplorer does not set width of table columns correctly
  130.           when printing. It does display correctly on screen.
  131.  
  132. IC14729 - Increasing the COLSPAN value in an HTML doc will crash
  133.           WebExplorer.
  134.  
  135. IC14961 - There is no Help text for the new NO-PROXY-FOR field on
  136.           the Configure/Servers screen.
  137.  
  138. IC14962 - WebExplorer reinstall doesn't remove WEBEXURL.DLL on delete
  139.           part.

  141. IC15038 - WebExplorer traps on a 302 redirect from clicking on image
  142.           map.

  145. WebExplorer V1.1f (09/13/96):
  146. -----------------------------
  147.  
  148. A new function is added to WebExplorer to define domains which
  149. do not require the use of a proxy server. This function helps
  150. to decrease the use of a proxy server for sites which do not
  151. require its use. This function is provided via the "No Proxy For"
  152. option (in the Configure/Servers panel).
  153.  
  154. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  155.  
  156. IC13903 - WebExplorer only saves forms data on the first submission.
  157.           Therefore, reloading the resulting page will use the data
  158.           from the first submission, not the last submission.
  159. IC14800 - Swapper grows when using WebMap and could crash WebExplorer.
  160. IC14858 - WebExplorer is not displaying accented characters in places
  161.           like ALT=, Form buttons, links, NewsGroup, Mailto.
  162. IC14988 - WebExplorer was denied access when the server did not return
  163.           a "realm=..." string in the header
  164.  
  165. In the past, separate SERVICE.TXT files were shipped with non-secure
  166. WebExplorer, secure US WebExplorer, and secure export WebExplorer.
  167. Starting with WebExplorer 1.1f, only one common SERVICE.TXT file is used.
  168.  
  169. Installation Note:
  170.   If you have installed 1.1f over a previously translated version of
  171.   WebExplorer, you should rename explore.dll so it will not be used.
  172.   This is probably in your tcpip directory. You can find it easily by
  173.   switching to your tcpip directory and then using the directory command
  174.   specifying the subdirectory search.  Then change to the directory
  175.   where the file exists and rename it.
  176.  
  177.   For example:
  178.    > cd \tcpip
  179.    > dir explore.dll /s
  180.      returns message about where the file is, e.g.
  181.        c:\tcpip\MSG\JAJP932
  182.    > cd msg\jajp932
  183.    > rename explore.dll explore.org
  184.  
  185.   When you start WebExplorer again, you will have the proper menus
  186.   and the text will be in English.

  194. PJ22350 - WebExplorer does not support proxy authentication from Microsoft Servers.

  197. IC13935 - Browser doesn't support a connection via proxy that requires userid and password
  198.           Authentication (ie. Netscape).

  210. IC12706 - Printed tables are being squished to the left.
  211. IC13317 - SYS3175 in PMGPI.DLL when trying to print large files.
  212. IC13471 - WebExplorer prints garbage when printing a 4 column
  213.           list box to a postscript driver.
  214. IC13355 - Error printing web pages with tables using WebExplorer
  215. IC13045 - WebExplorer will not print text in <TABLE> cells properly,
  216.           using <TABLE WIDTH="XXX"> in HTML 3.0.
  217. IC13237 - WebExplorer displays GIF images incorrectly when operating in
  218.           VGA mode.

  241.             PostScript printers, some of the document will not

  243. - IC12515 : WebExplorer receives a SYS3175 when accessing the HTML
  244.             code with a <EM> tag in the file
  245. - IC12691 : WebExplorer does not properly load documents with a
  246.             TEXTAREA field
  247. - IC12700 : WebExplorer does not display text on a specific page
  248. - IC12706 : WebExplorer will not format tables for printing correctly

  256.             downloading a MIME type with a long URL name to the

  258. - PJ21462 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3184 when ROWSPAN uses a

  260. - PJ21464 : WebExplorer doesn't route correctly when using a socks
  261.             server
  262. - PJ21616 : When clicking on an image map in an HTML document to
  263.             reach a new page or server connection, WebExplorer
  264.             does not properly display the new URL for the new
  265.             connection.

  276.             correctly when load graphics is switched off.

  285.             loading it. The page is the default grey background.

  288. - PJ20899 : WebExplorer gives error "Server is busy or not responding" ERRO
  289.             when posting data greater than 4KB
  290. - PJ21284 : WebExplorer does not display all the default text in a
  291.             <TEXTAREA> field

  293. Besides the above APARs, several other problems in previous versions
  294. of WebExplorer have also been corrected.
