  1. WASTE for Windows

  4. Please read all of this note. (It's pretty short.)

  6. Important: Waste for Windows looks best on resolutions
  7. of 800x600 or better. At 640x480 you'll need to scroll
  8. to see the full display.
  9.  
  10. This package includes both the DOS and the Windows 
  11. version of Waste. 
  12.  
  13. To install the Windows version, unzip the zipped file 
  14. to some temp directory (or a floppy). Then, double-click 
  15. on SETUP.EXE (or select it from the Program
  16. Manager's File|Run menu).
  17.  
  18. The DOS version remains in its ZIPPED form in the directory 
  19. into which you installed Waste for Windows. Just unzip it 
  20. and run it under DOS or in a DOS window.
  21.  
  22. The Windows version runs under Windows 3.1 and (probably)
  23. Win 95 because these share the same FAT-based file system.
  24. Waste for Windows may not run under Win NT, but see online
  25. help for more details.

  27. There is nothing unusual in the setup for Waste for Windows.
  28.  
  29. It DOES NOT modify any of your system files. It doesn't 
  30. touch any of your INI files, or your AUTOEXEC.BAT, or 
  31. your CONFIG.SYS file.  All the setup program does is copy 
  32. a few of files to the directory you specify to hold 
  33. WASTE, and a couple more to your \windows\system directory.

  35. Then a program manager group is created.
  36.  
  37. Specifically (and if you wish to do it manually):

  39. This file         is copied to:

  41. WASTEW.EXE    directory you chose (main pgm file)
  42. WASTE.HLP    directory you chose (help file)
  43. WASTE.DIZ    directory you chose (blurb)
  44. WASTEWIN.TXT    directory you chose (this file)
  45. WASTEDOS.ZIP    directory you chose (DOS version)
  46. GAUGE.VBX    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  47. BIVBX11.DLL    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  48. CTL3D.DLL    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  49.  
  50. The last three files are necessary to give the program 
  51. it's 3D sculpted look.
  52.  
  53. If you already have a GAUGE.VBX in your \windows\system 
  54. directory, rename it for the moment (or copy it to 
  55. another directory) and do this Install.
  56.  
  57. Run Waste for Windows. 
  58.  
  59. When done with Waste, copy back your old GAUGE.VBX.
  60.  
  61. Waste for Windows (and DOS) is freeware.
