What is Funboot for Windows?
----------------------------
In the early days of computers, programmers would often hide little
gags within the program. These gags were primitive but effective means to
put little jokes in your computer to amuse you. Funboot for Windows is such
a program. This program is set up to do no serious damage to your windows
environment. The program is designed to provide jokes, good humor, and
even some other points you may not even discover. The program doesn't
insult your intellegence, crash your hard drive, or even belches at you.
Why?
----
Why does anybody create a program to become marketed? Most of us
have a great idea and want to share it with the world. Funboot for Windows
is a cultivation of five years of research and development under the
administration of it's original programmer, Wayne Facer. He developed a
DOS based version of the program which was distributed on his hometown BBS.
Since then, the program has been improved with age and satisfaction.
However, with the dawning of the Windows age, Funboot for Dos
couldn't survive due to the influx of Windows(See funboot's history). It
was decided that a Windows version was long overdue. In early 1995, Mr.
Facer placed an ad along the usenet for help with his program. His quest
gave him insight to find the right programmer to turn his DOS program into
a Windows version that will run in Windows 3.X and the upcoming Windows 95
operating systems. It was Matt Kassin who responded to his plea for help.
And so a bargan was struck. He would write a whole new version for Windows
in exchange for half of the profits earned by both the Funboot for DOS and
Funboot for Windows version. And so, this hard earned programmer took in
this challenge and the program you are about to run is it's result.
How do I Install Funboot for Windows?
-------------------------------------
Like most other products, Funboot for Windows comes with an
installation program that automatically puts the program into it's proper
place. To run the installation program, first, unzip the file to a
temporary directory. Next, from the command prompt enter win install. The
program than installs the program and makes a group file. The program
modifies your startup group so that funboot automatically starts when
windows is started.
If you don't want Funboot to start, delete the icon for funboot in
the start window.
Since this is an unregistered verion, you will get no help. Help
is only available for registered users. To register, see the file
register.txt.
A brief history of Funboot
--------------------------
Funboot for DOS was created in 1990 on an XT computer system with
512K and no hard drive. Below is a listing of the first versions of
funboot for DOS and how it's been revolutionized in each incantation. For
1995, I intend to release a new version 7.0 for the DOS environment which
has the same messages and other fancy goodies of the Windows version. The
DOS version will contain some new stuff not found in the windows version
but then the windows version will have some stuff not in the DOS version.
Funboot for Windows was created this year on a 486 computer system
with Borland C++ 4.5 for Windows. The DOS version will be created as well
on a 486 system and Borland C++ for DOS.

Final Notes
-----------
I would like to thank Matt Kassin for the time and effort he put
into this version of Funboot. His tireless efforts will not go down in
vain. I would also like to thank Wayne Facer for his work into creating
the DOS version. I hope that you will use both programs to see the hard
work these programmers put into their work. Please register this program
and continue to support the shareware concept.
