  1. Archivers provides you with a quick, intuitive Windows interface 
  2. for using the file compression programs ZIP, ARJ, LZH and 
  3. Microsoft's Compress and Expand programs.  The Archivers window 
  4. is laid out with a Source and a Target directory visible on your 
  5. screen.  This allows you to see and control all of the Archivers 
  6. functions.  The Archivers menus provide quick access to all of the 
  7. uncompression and compression commands, and, for added speed, 
  8. Archivers also provides an "instant menu" which can be accessed 
  9. anywhere in the Archivers window by clicking on your right mouse 
  10. button and provides you with instant access to the more frequently 
  11. used menu items.  Archivers also offers the ability to view, extract 
  12. or delete individual files within your Zip files before uncompressing them.

  18. Archivers is a technical application with a serious approach to file
  19. management. We approach file management in a straight forward manner 
  20. utilizing our design features and your imagination. If you are not 
  21. comfortable with learning your system or trying to master your system 
  22. then this application may not be for you. To best utilize this program 
  23. a good working knowledge of files and directory structures is recommended 
  24. but not required.

  44.   including viewing and manipulating files within a zip file;

  46.   Pkzip Span disk Options;

  52. This version of Archivers is Windows 95 compatible.

  54. You will need to have the VBRUN300.DLL file installed in your 
  55. Windows\System directory in order for Archivers to run and before you
  56. can run the Archivers setup program. You will also need to
  57. have the the following archiving utilities fully extracted in a 
  58. directory which is located in your path:

  60. For the PKZip program,PKZ204G.EXE; 
  61. For the ARJ program, ARJ239a.EXE or ARJ250.EXE (most recent versions); 
  62. For the LHA program, LHA212.EXE.
  63. (the EXE filename may depend on the version of the program.).

  65. From PKZ204g.exe, Archivers uses Pkzip.exe, Pkunzip.exe, Pkzipfix.exe, 
  66. and Zip2exe.exe. 
  67. From Arj239a.exe all you will need is Arj.exe. 
  68. From Lha212.exe lha.exe is all that is needed.

  70. Please ensure these files are in your path.  These files are not 
  71. furnished as part of the Archivers Program.  They can be obtained
  72. from most online services or BBSs or from the KnowWare web page at
  73. http://www.pioneer.net/~knoware/. Download installer.exe.

  75. After extracting the archiver.exe file, you should see the following

  104. To load Archivers onto your system, go to the File menu of your
  105. Windows Program Manager and choose Run.  Choose the Archivers
  106. setup.exe file from the directory or disk and click on OK.  The
  107. setup program will load all the necessary files onto your system
  108. and create a KnowWare program group for Archivers. If You are using 
  109. Windows 95 go to the Start button and choose Run.
  110.  
  111. Setup will install the .pif  files into your Windows directory, 
  112. along with the compress and expand .exe files.  All .dll and .vbx 
  113. files will be installed into your windows\system directory.
  114. And the setup program will create an knowware directory which will
  115. contain the archiver .exe and .hlp files along with the readme.wri.
  116. If you ever want to uninstall Archivers, all you need to do is remove
  117. all of these files from your system.  No changes are made to your
  118. autoexec.bat file or any .ini file on your system.

  120. After installation of Archivers is complete please view the Archivers 
  121. Readme by double clicking its icon. There is also a "What You Will Need" 
  122. menu item located in the program's Help menu and a "How to Use This 
  123. Program" Help topic.

  125. Archivers may be distributed freely, as long as no fee is charged 
  126. for the distribution and all of the files listed above are included
  127. with the program, but it may in no way be bundled with or included 
  128. into another program without obtaining prior written permission 
  129. from the author.
