  7.   Partition Table Doctor( PTD ) is a powerful recovery tool
  8. for your harddisk partition tables, it automatically checks
  9. and repairs partition table error.
  10.  
  11.   Partition Table Doctor provides very useful functions: such
  12. as backup partition table, restore partition table, rebuild
  13. partition table. So much as, it permits you to configure every
  14. parameter of the partition table. In addition, Partition Table
  15. Doctor provides some other useful functions: check partition,
  16. active partition, hide partition, scandisk, rebuild MBR(Master Boot Record),
  17. set password for harddisk, unlock harddisk, view sectors,
  18. edit sectors, backup sectors to file, restore file to sectors,
  19. copy sectors, fill sectors, and so on.

  24. *** Notes for Using And Running ***
  25.  
  26.   You"d better run Partition Table Doctor under pure MS DOS
  27. environment, because partition operations are independent of
  28. operating systems and very "low level", some function such as
  29. fill sectors only run under pure MS DOS environment.
  30.  
  31.   Of course, you can run Partition Table Doctor under the MS DOS
  32. prompted window in WINDOWS 9x or WINDOWS ME. To execute Partition
  33. Table Doctor, just type "ptd" at MS DOS command prompt or double
  34. hit ptd.exe using mouse in the path of Partition Table Doctor.
  35. Also you can use mouse to choose "Create Emergency Disk" from
  36. "General" menu to run ptd under pure MS DOS environment.

  38.   When restore partition table to harddisk, the master boot
  39. sector will be overwrote. So you should "Disable" the "Anti Virus"
  40. option in BIOS setup.
  41.  
  42.   When running, the partitions circumstantiality will be displayed
  43. using chart and tables. The cylinder diagram in the top displays
  44. all allocated partitions' position and size.
  45.  
  46.   The type and other detail parameters of partitions are listed
  47. in a table on the middle of screen. About the meanings of these
  48. parameters, please refer to "About Partition Table" of Help files.
  49.  
  50.   Before operating on a partition you must select it first. To
  51. select a partition, just click on the partition in the diagram
  52. or in the table use mouse. And also you can use Up or Down key
  53. for selecting.

  55.   In order to prevent mistakes, all operations except restore
  56. file to sectors, copy sectors, fill sectors are not wrote to
  57. harddisk immediately. They are saved in memory buffer instead.

  59.   While complete and there are no errors, you can send out a "apply"
  60. command use CtrL+S key or select "Save" from menu "General".
  61. Then Partition Table Doctor write all your operations to harddisk one-off.
