  62. K-Chess Elite is a powerful and versatile chess program designed to
  63. help you play better. It is ideal for casual players, children learning
  64. to play chess, and anyone wanting to improve their game.

  66. K-Chess Elite has lots of features to help you play. See the pieces that
  67. have been taken, where pieces can move, who can take what, which move
  68. the computer recommends, whether checkmate is inevitable, and more. Set
  69. the board to a specific layout, rotate it, enlarge it, and change the
  70. set of pieces.

  72. Unlimited undo and redo is available, plus move hinting and replay,
  73. giving you complete control of the game and allowing alternate
  74. strategies to be explored. Print board layouts and move lists. Save
  75. games to disk and reload at any time. A variety of file formats are
  76. available, including the standard PGN file format which gives access to
  77. thousands of competition games played all over the world.

  79. Choose from one of three different move notations, and even customise
  80. the language in which those notations are recorded. Record details of
  81. the game and players, and add comments to any move.

  83. K-Chess Elite can play with two players, one player against the computer
  84. (either black or white), or the computer against itself. Choose from a
  85. variety of time restrictions, or none at all. Change the playing

  161. To install the program from diskette:

  163. 1. Put the installation disk into drive A:

  165. 2. Select the Run function from the Start button (in Windows 95/98/NT)
  166. or from the File menu in Program Manager (in Windows 3.1).

  168. 3. Enter "a:setup"

  170. 4. At the installation screen press <Enter> to begin installation.

  172. 5. When requested, enter the drive and/or directory to install the
  173. program to, or just press <Enter> to accept the default.

  177. 1. Download the latest version of the program from the ARK ANGLES web
  178. site. The 16 bit edition comes compressed into a single ZIP file. The 32
  179. bit edition comes compressed into a self-extracting EXE file..

  181. 2. For the 16 bit edition, decompress the ZIP file with any appropriate
  182. unarchiving program such as PKUNZIP, PowerZip or WinZip, ands then run t.
  183. he setup program as above. For the 32 bit edition, run the downloaded
