C&C Plus! Themes for Windows 95 -- Version 1.2
YOU MUST UNZIP THEMES12.ZIP WITH WINZIP32! You need the long file names!
YOU MUST HAVE THE PLUS PACK TO MAKE THE ENTIRE THEME WORK! If you don't
have Plus!, you can add the mouse pointers, backgrounds, and sounds by
hand (from the control panel). Sorry, the colors will be inaccessable,
though :(
With that out of the way....
Greetings!
Thanks for the interest in the Westwood C&C Themes! You will find three
themes in the enclosed zip. One is GDI, one is NOD, and the other is
an EVA-type theme. Each of them have accompanying sounds and icons,
and there's a bunch of extra stuff in the zip (sounds and icons) so
you can customize it to your liking if you don't like the choices.
Note that these themes will ONLY work in 16Bit (high) color or
above! There aren't enough colors available in a 256 color palette to
cover windows colors and our C&C palette... without a lot of time
invested in re-mapping, that is.
There are 48x48 and 32x32 sizes for all the icons, so if you use
"large icon mode", you'll see the icons in even more detail. There are
also two versions of many of the icons (ie. C&C Airstrip and
C&C Airstrip II). The first version is the entire object, and the II's
are cut-pieces that maintain the scale. The II's are easier to view
at higher resolutions.
TO USE:
Unzip the THEMES12.ZIP file into your "Plus!\themes" directory. This
is usually under "c:\program files" directory, but some people move it
around. If you didn't, it would be "c:\program files\plus!\themes".
Once unzipped, load the Desktop themes control from your control
panel in Win 95, and you should see the three new items in the theme
selection bar, C&C GDI, C&C NOD, and C&C EVA.
Have fun!
If you're having trouble with these themes, blame it all (in e-mail)
on Virtual Ted! Write him at support@westwood.com with the subject
"C&C plus! themes" You can also send praise or comments for future
versions -- we do read them!
