There are two decisions to be made when choosing a processor: what type to buy and what speed. The speed is specified in MHz (megahertz), which measures how fast the chip 'ticks over': 100MHz chips tick 100 million times per second. You can not compare different chips simply by counting megahertz, for example the Pentium chip works harder than the 486, getting more done during each tickΓÇöroughly twice as much. So the rule is only to compare MHz within the same family of processors.
