  14.    1. Previous WinRAR and RAR versions stored only the file modification
  15.       time and only in DOS FAT format with 2 seconds precision.
  16.       While it was enough for FAT, modern file systems provide a higher
  17.       precision. Now RAR format can preserve modification, creation and
  18.       last access time with the precision up to 0.0000001 second.
  19.       The following changes had been done to support this facility:
  20.  
  21.       a) new "Time" part of archiving dialog includes "File time to store"
  22.          options controlling file time processing. Other time related
  23.          options also had been moved from "Backup" to "Time" section;
  24.  
  25.       b) new "Advanced" part of extraction dialog contains "File time"
  26.          options allowing to select time fields to restore;
  27.  
  28.       c) command line -ts switch chooses time fields to process
  29.          and precision of these fields;
  30.  
  31.       Time precision provided by ZIP format is not changed and equal
  32.       to 2 seconds.

  34.    2. Changes in the extraction dialog:
  35.  
  36.       a) extraction dialog has been split to "General" and "Advanced"
  37.          parts;
  38.  
  39.       b) "Display files in Explorer" option in "General" part instructs
  40.          WinRAR to open Explorer window and display contents of
  41.          destination folder when extraction is done;
  42.  
  43.       c) "Save settings" button saves the current state of both parts
  44.          ("General" and "Advanced"). Saved state will be used as
  45.          the default when activating the dialog next time. WinRAR saves
  46.          all options except the destination path;
  47.  
  48.       d) "Advanced" part includes "File time" options allowing to
  49.          select time fields to restore;
  50.  
  51.       e) new "Set file security" option in "Advanced" part controls
  52.          restoring of NTFS file security information. Previous versions
  53.          always extracted this information.

  55.    3. It is possible to rename files inside of RAR archives.
  56.       It can be done either with "Rename file" command in "Commands"
  57.       menu or in the context menu displaying on the right mouse click.
  58.       In the command line mode you may use 'rn' command for this
  59.       purpose.

  61.    4. "Next volume" dialog allows to choose the disk or folder for
  62.       a new volume. WinRAR displays this dialog when creating volumes
  63.       on removable disks or if "Pause after each volume" option
  64.       is switched on. Previous versions did not allow to modify
  65.       the volume name here.

  67.    5. "Test" and "Convert" commands can be applied to archives
  68.       directly from Explorer context menu. By default these menu
  69.       items are disabled, but you may enable them in WinRAR
  70.       "Settings/Integration/Context menu items..." dialog.

  72.    6. "Pause" item added to context menu displayed on the right mouse
  73.       button click on WinRAR tray icon. So you may pause WinRAR minimized
  74.       to tray and continue it without restoring WinRAR to normal window.

  76.    7. If one of SFX volumes is missing, SFX archive displays
  77.       "Next volume" dialog proposing to browse for required volume.

  79.    8. WinRAR allows to resize the window containing results of "Find"
  80.       command. It saves modified window dimensions and restores them
  81.       when using "Find" next time.

  83.    9. Toolbar:
  84.  
  85.       a) "Toolbars..." button in "Settings/General" activates the dialog
  86.          allowing to turn on or off the main WinRAR toolbar, the additional
  87.          small toolbar containing "Up one level" button and the address bar
  88.          with path or archive information;
  89.  
  90.       b) buttons may have a variable width. So few large button titles
  91.          in localized versions will not increase the total toolbar size
  92.          too much like it happened before;
  93.  
  94.       c) if the width of buttons exceeds the width of toolbar,
  95.          you may click on the small arrow at the right side of toolbar
  96.          and choose hidden buttons from the menu.

  98.   10. Console RAR 'lb' and 'vb' commands list contents of archive
  99.       in the bare mode - file names without any additional information.
  100.  
  101.   11. WinRAR recognizes one more tar long file name extension
  102.       designed to overcome 100 characters file name limit in tar archives.
  103.  
  104.   12. Gzip archives contained zero in the file time field are processed
  105.       correctly. Previous versions could display random date values
  106.       for such archives.

  108.   13. Recovery volumes:
  109.  
  110.       a) when creating recovery volumes, the required disk space
  111.          is preallocated in the beginning of operation. It helps to
  112.          minimize the disk fragmentation;
  113.  
  114.       b) console RAR displays the operation percentage when creating
  115.          recovery volumes or reconstructing missing or corrupt volumes.

  117.   14. If "Save file security" option is enabled, folders will be
  118.       archived after files which they contain. It is necessary to avoid
  119.       the situation when security attributes of just unpacked folder
  120.       do not allow to extract files to it.

  122.   15. Optional description can be entered in "Add to favorite" dialog.
  123.       If such description is available, WinRAR will display it
  124.       in "Favorites" menu instead of folder or archive name.
