- extolling the working class; of injuries suffered in a car
- accident; in Seattle. Paul Robeson and later Joan Baez memorably
- recorded Robinson's most enduring ballad, Joe Hill, about the
- Utah labor organizer. The House I Live In, sung by Frank Sinatra
- in a short film celebrating America's ethnic and religious
- diversity, won an Academy Award in 1945.
