  15. <p>     DIED. Arthur Goldberg, 81, U.S. Supreme Court Justice from
  16. 1962 to 1965; in Washington. John F. Kennedy's Secretary of
  17. Labor, he became an influential member of the high court's
  18. liberal bloc led by Chief Justice Earl Warren. Goldberg
  19. reluctantly left the bench after Lyndon Johnson prevailed upon
  20. him to become Ambassador to the United Nations. He resigned that
  21. post in April 1968 out of frustration with Johnson's escalation
  22. of the Vietnam War.
