GUILTY
======
Non-Speech Version
Interactive Demonstration
Copyright Divide By Zero 1994
DEMO DESCRIPTION
----------------
The demo is a fully interactive segment of the non-speech version of the game,
including rendered sequences, sound effects and musical soundtrack. The
segment of the game shown takes place on one of the planets visited early on
in the story. The story involves Interstellar Master Thief Jack T. Ladd who
has been captured by the Federation Bounty Hunter Ysanne Andropath. As in the
full game, the player can play the game from either the male character's or
the female character's point- of-view. The tasks that each character must
complete are described near the start of the demo.
RUNNING THE DEMO
----------------
Ensure that the current CD directory is the one containing the demo files.
Run SETUP.
This will install the demo onto the player's hard drive.
Type GUILTY to run game, or SETUP to reconfigure game options.
DEMO REQUIREMENTS
-----------------
The demo runs from the player's hard drive - approx. 10Mb required.
Demo runs on 80386 33MHz or above with VGA video card.
At least 540K free Base Memory needed to run demo - more Base Memory required
for certain soundcard options. For maximum performance, at least 3Mb of
Extended Memory (XMS) required, although demo will run with less.
Configuration possible with most soundcards.
PLAYING THE DEMO
----------------
The upper part of the screen shows the main playing area, whilst the lower
part of the screen shows the panel. This panel contains the player's inventory
as well as a map area and control icons. The player's cursor can be in one of
six modes: TAKE, USE, MOVE, EXAMINE, TALK and HOLD. The cursor mode can be
changed by either clicking on one of the control icons with the left mouse
button or by cycling through the modes with the right mouse button (or with
the keyboard - see below). To interact with an item on screen, click on that
item with the left mouse button whilst in the appropriate mode. Once an
object has been taken, it can be placed anywhere in the inventory. If desired,
objects in the inventory can be sorted into a neat order by clicking on the
ARRANGE icon on the panel. If it is possible to use an object on other items,
then clicking on that object whilst in USE mode will add an extra mode to the
list of cursor modes.
Any spoken text can be bypassed once read by clicking the right mouse button
(or with the keyboard - see below). For an immediate exit from the close-up
conversation mode, hit the ESC key.
