  1.                     Empire II - Demo
  2.  
  3. This is a special, limited demo version of Empire II: The Art of War.  It
  4. will hopefully give you a taste of the features of the full product.
  5.  
  6. The demo is self-running, and will run continuously until stopped manually.
  7. The program will ignore all User input from the keyboard and the mouse.
  8. To terminate the demo, press the Control-C keyboard combination.
  9.  
  10. Note that this demo is not designed to run directly from the CD-ROM -- you
  11. must install the game to your hard disk.  Either use the DOS "xcopy" command
  12. with the /S parameter, or run the supplied INSTALL batch file.  You will
  13. need approx. 7 MB of hard disk space.
  14.  
  15. To run the INSTALL batch file, please specify the target directory for your
  16. hard disk.  For example,
  17.  
  18.     install c:\games\e2demo
  19.  
  20. will copy the demo files to the "e2demo" subdirectory of the "games"
  21. directory on your C: drive.  If the specified target directory does not
  22. exist, you will be asked if the destination is a file or a directory --
  23. please press the D key at that prompt.

  25. To run the demo, change your current directory to the directory into which
  26. you installed the program, and type in the command "demo".
  27.  
  28. The first time that you run the demo after installation, the game will ask
  29. you to set your hardware preferences.  For the demo, only the SOUND settings
  30. need to be set to match your sound card.  The other setup options are not
  31. used by the demo version of the program.
