  40.     Gravis would like to thank ALL of its UltraSound Plug & Play customers
  41.         in their patience and understanding awaiting these new drivers.  We
  42.         are confident that you will be very satisfied with these drivers and
  43.         their installation.  Although we are confident on the functionality
  44.         of these drivers, they are still BETA, and therefore may contain
  45.         remaining bugs / problems.  We must remind you that they are provided
  46.         *AS IS* and are NOT supported by our TECH SUPPORT Department.

  49. Installation / Setup
  50. --------------------
  51.  
  52.     Below are the steps to follow for PROPERLY installing and setting up
  53.         the DOS/Windows 3.x drivers / Software.
  54.  
  55. 1.      Unzip PB1DISK2.ZIP onto a floppy disk and label that disk
  56.         "Public BETA 1.0 DOS/Win 3.x Disk".
  57.  
  58. 2.      Unzip PB1DISK3.ZIP onto a floppy disk and label that disk
  59.         "Public BETA 1.0 Preparation Disk".
  60.  
  61. 3.      If you also want to have a Windows 95 setup disk, unzip PB1DISK1.ZIP
  62.         onto a floppy disk and label that disk
  63.         "Public Beta 1.0 Win 3.x Disk".
  64.  
  65. 4.      Exit Windows. You can not perform any of the installation from
  66.         within Windows.
  67.  
  68. ** If you have other Plug & Play devices in your machine, we recommend you **
  69. ** turn off your machine and remove them now.  After you remove the cards, **
  70. ** reboot machine once again and continue below.                           **
  71.  
  72. ** If your Plug & Play system is working correctly (e.g. there are no IRQ  **
  73. ** or DMA conflicts with other devices) you may not wish to upgrade the    **
  74. ** ROM on your UltraSound. If so, skip to step 10.                         **
  75.  
  76. 5.      At the Command Prompt, insert the 'Public BETA Preparation Disk'.
  77.  
  78. 6.     Type A:  <Enter>  to go to your A drive.
  79.  
  80. 7.     Type   PNPMAP /f GRAVIS.ROM   <Enter>
  81.  
  82. 8.      When prompted, hit Y <enter> to confirm re-writing your EEPROM on the
  83.         UltraSound Plug & Play Card.
  84.  
  85. 9.      When there is a message stating that the writing of the eeprom is
  86.         complete, remove the floppy disk and reboot your machine.
  87.  
  88. 10.     When you are back at the Command Prompt, insert the
  89.         "Public BETA 1.0 DOS/Win 3.x Disk".
  90.  
  91. 11.     Type A:  <Enter>  to go to your A drive.
  92.  
  93. 12.     Type   INSTALL   <Enter>
  94.  
  95. 13.     The INSTALL program will guide you through the rest of the
  96.         installation process.

  99. Bug Reporting
  100. -------------
  101.  
  102.         We have setup a special email account to handle ALL comments,
  103.         questions, and bugs regarding the PUBLIC BETA 1.0 Version 2.0
  104.         drivers.  Please email everything to   pnpv2@gravis.com.  Due to the
  105.         anticipated 'swamp', please be patient for a response and check our
  106.         web site often for updates and info regarding the PUBLIC BETA.  We
  107.         thank you in advance for all you assistance and support.

  110. Known Bugs / Issues
  111. -------------------
  112.  
  113.     We have tried to make this BETA release as stable as possible but we
  114.         know of only a few minor bug still to be fixed.
  115.  
  116. 1.      To minimize 'false' bugs, please follow the 'Installation'
  117.         instructions above COMPLETELY.
  118.  
  119. 2.      If you have a sequencer program setup for using the MIDI IN PORT and
  120.         you have NOTHING plugged in, they will crash.  If you are
  121.         experiencing this problem, just plug in a joystick / gamepad  / MIDI
  122.         keyboard and the problem will go away.  We recommend NOT configuring
  123.         the program to use the MIDI IN PORT unless you have one plugged in.
  124.  
  125. 3.      We have had a few testers having problems with motherboards with the
  126.         'MR.BIOS' brand BIOS installed.  We are investigating this but have
  127.         no solution at this time.
