Quick Instructions for running and playing Towers II on the PC.
Towers II requires:
486DX system or better
8 Megs of Ram
11 Megs of Hard Drive space (minus any requirements for installing
DirectX) (Demo requires 4 Megs)
DirectSound compatible Sound card.
DirectDraw compatible Graphics card.
DirectX 1.0 required, DirectX 2.0 or 3.0 highly recommended
Mouse
Towers II runs in a 32,000 or 65,000 color mode. If none of those modes
are available, then Towers II will run in a 256 color mode and will
simulate 32,000 colors.
Installing Towers II
--------------------
Extract all files into your hard drive in a directory, with any name.
Make sure that you extract this file with all the directories intact,
and that you have DirectX installed on your computer. Check with
http://www.microsoft.com, if you don't.
To run Towers II, simply double click on Towers2d.exe. The game will
start shortly after.
Selecting a Character
---------------------
One the main menu comes up. Select INCARNATION to choose a character
to play with. If you do not like the stats for that character, click
on him again to re-roll. Click on ACCEPT to start the game.
Key Controls
------------
7, F 8, X 9, Z
Flip Inv/char Stats Sleep
4, <- 6, ->
Side-step Left Side-step Right
1, S 2, M 3, TAB
Toggle Spells More/Clear Text Map
0, ENTER, SPACE
Cast Active Spell
ESC Loading, Saving, Restarting
Escapes from selections Quitting, Sound Volumes, and
Quits Game in Title Screen Mouse Movement are handled
PAUSES Game while playing while game is paused.
Mouse Controls
--------------
The mouse controls are setup in to modes. Movement Mode and Hand mode.
Movement Mode ---
In movement mode, the mouse pionter is in the shape of an
arrow (or square if not moving). To move in the dungeon
move the mouse in that direction, an arrow will appear to tell
you what direction you are moving.
Left Button - Attacks
Right Button - Toggles back to Hand mode.
Hand Mode ---
In the Hand mode, the mouse pionter is shaped like a hand (or
object, if you are holding one.)
Left Button - The action button. With it you can pick up items,
select from menu options, select spells, and various other tasks.
Right Button - Toggles back to movement mode.
