Welcome to KillDev!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEGAL STUFF
KillDev © Elaborate Bytes, Oliver Kastl
All rights reserved.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GENERAL
This program belongs to the CacheCDFS. It allows you to (almost) completely
unmount your CD-ROM from the system. If the FileSystem is still in use
(e.g. there are open files on a disc, or you have opened the volume)
KillDev will print an error message.
It is possible, that the filesystem will not completely vanish from memory,
but it can free all allocated buffers and become mostly inoperational.
This program will only work with Kickstart 2.04 or greater.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Removing a running filesystem on the Amiga is generally a dangerous thing.
Great afforts have been made that this operation will not lead to a crash.
Anyway, use this command with great care.
You may use KillDev on ANY dos filesystem or handler, but this is not such
a good idea. KillDev was designed with the CacheCDFS in mind. It may or may
not work with other filesystems. You have been warned!
STARTING KILLDEV:
Just double-click on its program icon. It will examine the tooltypes of its
icon file and search for an entry DOSDEV=xxx, where xxx is the DOS device
name (e.g. CD0).
The installation program has entered the correct name here.
When starting from the CLI, just enter KillDev xxx, where xxx is the DOS
device name (e.g. CD0).
ERRORS:
If a DOS device refuses to vanish, an error message explaining the reason
for this behaviour will pop up.
A common error is "Object in use". This means, that there are still locks
or files open on a volume belonging to this DOS device.
Please terminate all programs started from this DOS device. Close all windows
and drawers belonging to those volumes and try again.
