|RHistory:|N Italian colony from 1890, the Eritrea came under British military administration in 1941 during the Second World War.
1952 it was handed over to Ethiopia, according to a resolution of the UN General Assembly, but with internal selfgoverning.
1962 it was fully integrated with Ethiopia and the selfgoverning was at end.
At the end of the 1960:s an armed liberationstruggle started. This struggle was crowned with success in 1993.
