Welcome to Interplay's non-interactive demo of
Star Trek: Secret of Vulcan Fury(tm)
Please take some time to read through this file for helpful infor-
mation. Listed below are descriptions for system requirements,
instructions for installing and running the program, other tips as
well as how to purchase the full product.
_______________________________________________________________________
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS...
Your computer MUST have the minimum configuration listed here.
This product has been tested successfully on a system configured as
follows:
Pentium(tm) CPU (or compatible) 90 MHz (or faster),
Windows95 operating system (or newer),
DirectX version 3 (or newer),
Double-speed CD-ROM (or faster) (Quad-speed strongly recommended),
Video display card supported by Win95 with 1 MB video RAM (or more),
8 MB system RAM (or more),
16 bit sound card supported by Win95.
If your computer does not have these minimum system requirements,
this product will NOT work. (System Requirements for the actual game
may be higher.)
INSTALLING THE DEMO...
In this directory, find and run SETUP.EXE. Follow the instructions
displayed on the screen. You may elect to install the demo so that
it runs either from your hard drive or the CD-ROM drive.
RUNNING THE DEMO...
After installing the demo, go to the Windows START button and find
the PROGRAMS>INTERPLAY> menu. You can run "STAR TREK: Secret of
Vulcan Fury NIDEMO" from here. If, during setup, you elected to
run the demo from the CD-ROM, you will need this CD-ROM disc in
the drive when you run the product as well.
QUTTING THE DEMO...
You can exit anytime while the demo is running by hitting the ESCape
key. This will return you to Windows.
UNINSTALLING THE DEMO...
Go to the Windows Control Panel and select ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS.
Choose "SECRET OF VULCAN FURY DEMO," click on the ADD/REMOVE button
and then click on OK. This will remove only the components of
the demo. DirectX will remain on your system.

KNOWN PROBLEMS...
>> Double-speed CD-ROM drives:
You may find your double-speed CD-ROM is inadequate for you to fully
enjoy the product. You can avoid performance problems by running
SETUP again and selecting "Install To Hard Drive." You will need
about 30 MB free hard drive space.
>> DirectX:
SETUP for this demo will give you the option to install Microsoft
DirectX drivers which are required for this product. Other Windows95
software may have already installed a version of DirectX on your
system, however you may safely install the latest version of DirectX
even if you already have previously installed it. You will need
version 3 of DirectX or newer for this demo to work properly. If
you do not know if DirectX drivers have been previously installed,
you should install them during SETUP of this product.
As of press time you could get the latest version of DirectX by
pointing your web browser to:
http://www.microsoft.com/DIRECTX/RESOURCES/downloads/directx.exe
Also as of press time more information about DirectX could also be
found on the Internet at:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx
>> System Memory:
If you have less than 16 MB of system RAM, please quit all other
programs before running the demo.
>> Screen Savers:
While you watch the demo, some screen savers may interpret this as
"idle time" and cause the screen saver to "turn on." You can avoid
this by disabling the screen saver before running the demo.
>> Autoplay Extender:
Be advised that if you have previously installed the Microsoft Power
Toys Autoplay Entender, you will be alerted to the insertion of any CD
disc placed in the drive. The alert box will be displayed and may
interrupt other programs including running or installing this demo.
If this happens, just click CANCEL and resume running your other
programs.
>> Task Switching:
Task switching with Alt-Tab will work properly while the demo is running.
However, because running the demo is such a processor- and resource-
intensive task, it is recommended that you do not switch tasks at all
while the demo is running.
