Short: HD Installer for Superfrog V1.3
Type: game/patch
Author: jffabre@ensica.fr (Jean-François Fabre)
Install-Script & HD-loader © 1996/1997 Jean-François FABRE
Superfrog is ©1993 Team17 Software.
--- SUPERFROG Hard Disk Installer ---
This installer requires the ORIGINAL disks from Superfrog (there are 3)
It will NOT work for cracked versions of Superfrog.
The HD-Patched game will need about 2Mb of fast memory and 512K of chip memory.
However, if you've got some more, it's better.
It should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs (up to '060).
Report me any bugs you'll find.
Note: I created and tested this package with a A1200/060/50 16Mb, so there should
be no problems for all 680x0 CPUs (caches,chipset...). It degrades display properly
so Multiscan users won't have any sprite or screen problem.
When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and
it does not easily multitask. No checks are done to see if you swapped the disks
or not.
FEATURES:
- Full HD/RAM load of the game
- Convenient install script provided (adapted from Bert Jahn's ones)
- Full use of fast memory, improved for V1.1. Now only needs less than 2MB of fast memory.
- Fully 680x0 compatible without modifications
- Load/Save Hi-Scores now work with hard drive or floppy on request (NOOSSWAP tooltype)
- F10 key allows you to quit the game at any time (at least 2MB of fast required).
- Introduction HD installed too
I reduced memory consumption a lot with in-game hd loading.
Please rename the diskfiles into sfrog.d1, sfrog.d2, sfrog.d3 if you upgrade
from v1.x.
WARNING:
- You have to load the high scores by the LOAD SCORES option. This is not done at startup.
- Do NOT use a copyback disk cache on your games partition. This could be harmful if you reboot
the computer before you quit the game, if you use the SAVE SCORES option (disk buffers not
updated).
- If the game crashes with the HDLOAD tooltype, try removing it (you need more memory)
- If there are crashes just before the menu screen, try setting the NOOSSWAP tooltype on.

of software.
DISTRIBUTION:
This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.
However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
It's the only exception for the distribution.
