6.0 STAR FIGHTER ARCADE
6.1 This option allows you to use the Star Fighter combat engine to
play the classic game of Star Raiders. the object of this game
is to defend your starbases from destruction.
6.2 Once you have selected the Star Fighter Arcade option you will
be asked to select a space ship. You cannout fly the Rogue in
this mode.
6.3 When you have selected a ship you will be presented with the
space ship schematics and enhancement screen. (See the section
on STAR SHIP ENHANCEMENT & REPAIR). When you have finished on
this screen press the space bar or select NEXT and press fire.
6.4 You will now see a map screen. The little Tie-fighter style
ships are the D'Yammen ships, the plane-style ships are the
Confederation ships and the figure of eight shapes are the
starbases.
6.5 At the top you will see the number of enemy squadrons and the
number of friendly bases. Your ship is the gunsight. You will
see a flashing box on one of the grid sectors. Use the
joystick to move it around. This is your scanner. Move the
box to any sector to discover its contents. The enemies will
yield information on number of stunt ships and cruisers. The
starbases will yield the current strength. Every turn an enemy
is in the same sector as a starbase the starbase will lose 1
point of strength until it is destroyed. When all bases are
destroyed the game is over.
6.6 To move from sector to sector you must position the flashing
box on the grid you wish to reach. Press fire to make 1 move.
Remember that every move that you make, the enemy does too. By
simply scanning the area by moving the flashing box around you
do not take a move until you press fire.

of two things happen. You enter the same sector as an enemy or
the enemy desplete the strength of all starbases.
When you enter the same sector as an enemy you will do battle.
If you do battle in a sector containing a starbase, during
flight, fly through the flashing docking triangle projected
from the base of your cruiser to renew your ship.
6.8 You must destroy all aliens in the sector to move again. When
you destroy all aliens in a sector you will be debriefed on the
mission. From this screen if you were in the same sector as a
starbase you go to the Ship Enhancement & Repair screen. (See
section on this).

complete. You get bonuses for remaining bases and cash to
spend on your ship. You will then advance to the next wave.

10.0 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
10.1 DISK CACHE SIZE - Move joystick left or right to decrease or
increase this. It determines the size of data loaded in one
game cycle from the disk when radio broadcasts are audible.
What this means is the higher the number the quicker broadcasts
are received. A500 users should set this to about 2500 for
best results, or slower if the slight lag annoys you. Hard
Disk users should set this to 5000.
10.2 SCREEN SIZE - move joystick left or right to decrease or
increase this. It changes the size of the screen during
game screen. NTSC computer owners should not increase this
beyond 120 lines. Increase for a bigger screen/slower
update on A500 computers. Decrease for smaller screen/
faster update on A500 computer. Accelerated computers or
1200 owners shouldn't bother.
10.3 RADIO SUPRESSED - Left or Right for Yes or No. When
supressed the radio broadcasts will not be heard, but a
message will still appear in the message box. Audible
radio broadcasts enhance gameplay but are not necessary.

option.

schematic of the ship is the cost of enhancing the selected
aspect and cost of repair.

now, your cash will decrease but the aspect will increase
signified by the bar increasing in size.

to REPAIR and press fire once.
11.4 You can continue the game if your ship is damaged but you
will be restricted depending on the aspect damaged.
11.5 To exit, press space bar or select ENHANCE and move the
cursor to NEXT and press fire.
12.0 FINAL MESSAGE TO ALL STAR FIGHTERS.
When you quit the game all details of ship modifications
will be lost, and any score or rank will go too. You can
only save your position during a FULL CAMPAIGN.
You can play any role you like. Confederates are the good
guys, D'Yammens are the bad guys. Rogues (selected when
you fly the B_Class ship) fight who ever they want. You
can fly one campaign as a Confed then switch to D'Yammen
for the next campaign. The choice is yours.
Good Luck.
13.0 NOTES ON ROGUES
Press 'B' to activate (default) or deactivate tractor beam.
You will notice during the combat exploded ships leave
debris. You must collect this to make any money. Remember
you don't have any military to pay your bills. While you
are cloaked you cannot be seen. When you fire you
automatically de-cloak. Be careful.
14.0 STAR SHIP SCHEMATICS.
All ships have the same basic designs. Read this section for
information on each aspect of your ship.
SuperThrust - Enables you to speed though space at sub-Fluid
speed. As you use this the reserves decrease,
only building up over time.
Speed - The top speed of your space ship under normal
thrust.
Turn Speed - The speed at which you bank.
Pitch Speed - The speed at which you pitch up or down.
Hull Temp - When your shield goes your hull quickly heats up.
The higher this value the longer you'll last
before you explode.
Shield - The shield protects the hull. This reduces with
every blast at you. When damaged your shield
won't regenerate. Get this fixed first.
Laser Power - The strength of your lasers.
Laser Plant - The core which produces laser blasts. If this
is damaged you can't fire.
Missile Silo -The number of missile available.
Missile Pow - The strength of the missiles.
15.0 HINTS & TIPS.
If your weapons are damaged, fly around, select enemies with
your guidance computer and chose Attack my target to complete
your mission.
Any tug ships or cruisers on manouvers that are on your side
must be allowed to complete their missions before the mission
is a success.
At any time ships can warp in. Be prepared.
When planets are attacked, order your ships to Form up and
select the planet. Then order the group to Defend my target
or Attack my target depending on the alliance of the planet.
This will give you back-up when attacking the planets.
Look out for extra missions on your shelves. Each disk
will contain 3 new campaigns for $5.
Look out for STAR FIGHTER 2 - but give me some time. Any
ideas, please write in. Maybe you'll see your ideas pop up
in the new game.
